Charge 5 won't sync anymore

As of thursday, my fitbit has stopped recording data except for calories.

It shows them correctly on my fitbit but on the app on my phone and ipad it shows xero steps and xero everything except calories.

I have no recorded data for Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Today I am at 6,121 steps currently, my ipad shows me at 172 and my iphone at 237!!!

I have tried turning my blue tooth on and off on all devices, I've uninstalled the app on both my iphone and ipad and I've tried restarting my Charge 5.

I'm really unimpressed as it is less than a year old and an expensive product.

what can I do to fix it?

Hi there, @Cmdance. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is not syncing neither with your iPhone nor iPad. I understand how you must be feeling as none of the steps you tried have seemed to work.

As per the description of your post, it seems like your Charge 5 is not paired to any of your devices. That would explain why the Fitbit app is only updating the calories and not other data. With that being said, I'd suggest try the following steps only with one of your device (choose either the iPhone or iPad for this process):

  • Unpair your Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Fitbit device.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Fitbit device.
  • Once your Fitbit device is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

With the steps above, what I want you to do is to pair your Sense first to your phone's Bluetooth settings before any other Bluetooth device is connected to your phone.

Before trying the above, please be aware that most Fitbit devices store up to 7 days of detailed minute-by-minute data. If you wait longer than 7 days before syncing, you may only see the most recent week's detailed data. Summary data (calories, distance, steps, and floors) will be stored for 30 days. Nevertheless, if your Fitbit device was unpaired from your Fitbit account during this period of time, neither the 7 days can be recovered or restored.

On a side note, if you want to sync your Charge 5 with these two devices simultaneously, is very important to turn off the Bluetooth on one device when you want to sync with the other.

Bear in mind that your Fitbit device can only talk to one device at a time. It can be trusted on many devices, phones, tablets, and so on, but because of the limitations of Bluetooth, it will only be able to talk to one at a time.

The data from your Charge 5 is sent to the Fitbit cloud. After the data has been processed it will be put into your Fitbit account. Now your Fitbit account has access to and will display the data. Opening the app on a second device/phone/tablet will have access to the same data and a sync is not needed if a sync recently occurred through a different device.

Hope this helps.
