Charge 5 won't sync

My Charge 5 hasn't been syncing with my phone so the correct number of steps isn't being recorded. More importantly my alarm hasn't gone off the last 2 mornings so I have missed my workouts.

I chatted with virtual customer service and have restarted my watch several times. All the software is up to date as well.

I've had a Fitbit for the last 7 years and always been happy with it. This is the first time I'm seriously considering an Apple Watch.
