Charge 5 won't sync

Pls help when I try and sync my charge 5 nothing happens. Go to settings and the sync now button isn’t illuminated!!

Hello there, @SunsetRunner. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is not syncing anymore. I will do my best to help you with this. 

As a first approach, I suggest following the troubleshooting steps provided in this help article Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

If the issue persists, please try the steps below in the order listed: 

  • Unpair your Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Fitbit device.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Fitbit device.
  • Once your Fitbit device is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again. 


With the steps above, what I want you to do is to pair your Charge 5 first to your phone's Bluetooth settings before any other Bluetooth device is connected to your phone.

Mine stopped syncing today to upon wake.   Still have Fitbit account.  Both of us today?

After reading other threads I decided to put Charge 5 on charger.  No charge.  Restarted Charge 5 that then said critically low battery when before restart it stated charge was 63%.   I am now charging and will report back.  Take away: more than a Bluetooth issue.

My Fitbit wouldn’t charge today either. Tried all of the below suggestions. 
Eventually I reset my Fitbit and put it on charge. It lost 30% battery when reset and most of my data from today disappeared; had over 12,000 steps when I reset now less than 1,500, activities I’d tracked today disappeared as well. But it’s now syncing

My Charge 5 is working again.  Based on registered sleep score my Charge 5 went haywire around midnight.   Keeping my fingers crossed for sleep score tonight.

Thank you for letting us know that your Charge 5's are back to syncing properly.

If you ever have to reset your device again, do a manual sync via the app first so that you don't lose your data.
