Charge 5 won't track all my GPS data

Good evening,

I am sorry for posting a topic that already exists. I examined the forum, but could not find the same issue.

For already several months (I believe it was after an update), I notice this behaviour: After starting a walk, and my Charge 5 to record my track: All is recorded ok, until I dont have GPS signal, due to being in a restaurant (e.g.). When I walk back, this information is not stored anymore. When I come home, and after I stop the recording, the track is saved, I do see the total amount of km's, but when I open the map, I ONLY see the track until I enter the restaurant. The way back is not recorded anymore (although the amount of steps and kms etc are displayed correctly). It look like GPS is not recovered after a pause. In the past I never paused/stopped the recording when entering a building.

Any assitance is welcome!

Thanks,

Bart

@BartVermeulen5 Please try these tips:

  • Follow the recommendations for wearing your device for exercise. For more information, see How do I wear my Fitbit device?
  • Try loosening the band 1 notch.
  • Make sure your device doesn't touch your wrist bone.
  • Wait until GPS is connected to start the exercise.
  • Note that if you’re using GPS for the first time in an area, connecting to GPS satellites might take several minutes. Heavily wooded areas and tall buildings can increase the time it takes to connect to GPS satellites.
  • If your tracker doesn’t connect to GPS satellites, end the exercise, change the GPS mode to Phone GPS, and start the exercise again. To change the GPS mode, see How do I manage the GPS settings on my Fitbit device?
  • To reduce the time it takes for your device to connect to GPS satellites, hold your arm parallel to your body near your head and at least 2 inches away from you when you connect to GPS and start an exercise.

Hi there, @BartVermeulen5. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for taking the time to search for the answer of your issue in the forums before posting here.

Please bear in mind that if the GPS signal is lost during the exercise/activity, a map might not appear in the Fitbit app. Also, note if you begin moving before you get a GPS signal, your device calculates distance using your steps until GPS connects. GPS dropouts can be caused by several things (tall buildings, trees, overcast, etc.). If you're having issues with the GPS connection, see Why isn't GPS working on my Fitbit

Thanks for the prompt answer Marre.

Please advice: What do I need to do to resume the recording of the map, after I have lost the GPS signal?

Sorry, this does not help me.

Please advice me how to resume the recording after I have lost GPS Signal.

What GPS Mode I need to chose for normal use?

I also need to share with you: After i leave the building (e.g. a restaurant) my Charge5 indicates GPS is connected. However, except distance and steps, the track (route) is not recorded anymore. So I wonder if changing GPS Mode will make any difference....

Can you please stop copying-pasting the same answer? I received this response already 3 times. This does not help me, as I explained 2 times before.

Please take my issue more serious and invest some time in it. Thanks!
