Charge 5 won't track sleep or steps

My fit was tracking my sleep until 3 days ago. It has not tracked since. I disconnected it and reconnected.. synced..rebooted.. the whole bit. I also am unable to add steps.. for example i do the stair climber for 50 minutes and sweat through everything... but my fitbit never even logs one step..even though my heart rate is high and according to the stairclimber i have climbed around 5200 steps. In the past i have logged it as an activity so i get the steps in my tracker... as if 3 days ago... i am unable to even add activities. Why?

Welcome to the community forums, @Catsunshine.

Thanks for sharing these details, as well as your efforts while working on this matter. To work on this together, could you confirm if the issue is with the sleep stages or score? Or is your tracker not recording any sleep? There are a few factors that affect this feature, such as sleeping in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely.

With that in mind and so we can get your Charge 5 to record sleep and steps correctly, I'd recommend restarting your tracker with the charging cable to refresh its performance. Once that is done, wear your device about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone and monitor its performance in the next few days.

Lizzy,

Different people have different size fingers.  How many inches, EXACTLY, should this be above, and is it the middle of the wrist bone, or the hand side of the wrist bone.  How about a picture.  Two days of the last 13 my fitbit measured NO oxygen.  Today, I'm walking and it's recording any steps.  I've tried 3 settings on the wrist and rebooted, scrubbed my arm clean, left it off overnight.  What is the point a "health measurement device" if it doesn't work reliably?  All those statistics are GARBAGE.  I need my O2 measured all the time, I am low.  I need the steps reminder, which vibrates about 10% of the eligible time.  Not counting my steps is ridiculous.  Why am I bothering with this little google game??!!

Hello @Catsunshine

Regarding the steps on your stair climber: Wrist worn fitness trackers, including Fitbit, use arm movement for step tracking. If you are holding onto the handles of the stair climber equipment during your workout, your Fitbit won't track steps. This is the same reason why users who push shopping carts or strollers often see less steps than they actually took.

Some users will get an extender for their band and wear their Fitbit on their ankle during workouts where they aren't moving their arms or have limited arm movement. This might be an option to consider.

You should be able to add a completed workout in the Fitbit app. On the Today page, there should be a + icon on the right, towards the bottom of the page. Tap on the icon. A window will open that should allow you to Manually log an Activity. Tap on this icon, complete the information, and save.

No, I did NOT mean stair steps. I meant WALKING STEPS, arms free.

Hi there, @tolagal@RiekoC Thanks for helping our member.

@tolagal Thanks for getting back with additional information, and trying the steps suggested above. In regards to your sleep, you can refer to the following picture:

Once this is done, please use your tracker and test it to see how it behaves afterward. Keep in mind that your Charge 5 will provide you with SpO2 data during sleep.

About the steps not being detected, were you moving your arms? I'd also recommend the last instructions sent by @RiekoC about manually logging an activity to see if your step count increases.
