I've had the Charge 5 for 3 days and it has not logged any floors since I started using it.
I just did a soft reset and walked up and down a few times. Still nothing
Just checked the related topics and found it doesn't track floors. I'm sorry but that sucks and would have affected my decision to buy. I may decide to return it. Core features like that should not be removed

If bought through Fitbit.com you may return it. Yes the website doesn't say anything about floor counting for a reason.
This tracker does not count floors.

Same thing happened to me, only I noticed after first day and tried to get it figured. Was shocked to hear no altimeter in the Charge 5 to count floors. Does not sound like "the most advanced tracker yet" to me when they remove basic features like that.

CHARGE 5 floor counting? There is NO ALTIMETER in the Charge 5 to count floors. What you don't know before purchasing any Fitbit can and will ruin a purchase and your days.

A little research, user manual, the fitbit store, write ups, YouTube reviews, would have brought this lack of altimeter up.

strange, because when you look at the manual for charge 5, there should be an altimeter. However, mine doesn't count either as well as the "Sense" of my wife (although indicated and measured up the 10th September). Is it a firm/SW-problem?
"Sensors and motors
Your Charge uses a MEMS 3-axis accelerometer to measure your motion patterns
and determine your steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, and sleep quality.
Charge also contains:
• An altimeter, which measures floors climbed
• A vibration motor, which allows it to vibrate when alarms go off, when you"

I early ordered as a gift before all the stats was out. I'm astonished floor tracking is missing. Will be returning the device. You really blew it FitBit been a user for over ten years.

For a community legend you are pretty rude. This being my third fitbit charge and the previous 2 having floor counting my expectations should not be to look for features being removed. Generally, new products have more features not less.
I did buy it off fitbit.com so I will be returning it

Lack of altimeter is a big oversight. Good thing the earth is flat. Surprised that they don't have an option to use the altimeter in ones smart phone?

I agree. I purchased charge 5 because my charge 4 broke. I use the floor counters as one of the main metrics. I was shocked that the next level up didn’t have that option. I would rather have bought the charge 4 again. For in upgraded model, why would that have come off……

Hi everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to share how you feel about Charge 5 not having an altimeter to track floors. I see where you're coming from.
Note that while Charge 5 doesn't track floors, it has many other features that you can take advantage of, such as the EDA scan app and the vibrant color display, check all of them on the main page.
Since you already have it , you could also check the Product Manual to learn all about its features and enjoy the Fitbit Premium trial that comes with your tracker, there are many workouts and Mindfulness sessions you can enjoy.
Hope this helps. Have a nice day.

I liked the watch, but I do not like the premium. It's not worth the price. That it did not register stairs was a big minus. and in addition, there are problems with it from day one to synchronize. It jumps to and from bluetooth. I have also read on the forum that there are many who have a problem with it. I have gone back to my Charge 4. and have had no problem connecting it to bluetooh on my mobile

@Annch Thank you for getting back.
I see where you're coming from. The features that require Fitbit Premium in order to view more info, can be found on the Product Manual.
Regarding the syncing issues some users are experiencing, rest assure that our team is aware of this and working towards a resolution.
Hope this helps.

As exercise shortcuts, there is a stairclimber. Am not sure it works, never had the chance to try it. Charge 4 showed stairs i have never climbed, yet missed when i did. Sure was not accurate! Try the exercise shortcut!

That is really disappointing that the flights aren’t counted anymore. Tracking my flights was just as important as tracking active minutes and distance.

Did you try Stairclimb exercise shortcut? I did not have the chance yet, but tend to believe will work, and better than the Charge 4
