I've posted this issue before and the only solution I've received is to download the update. What update? Where is it? It's still not tracking duration on the Elliptical correctly. If this isn't going to be fixed, please let me know and I'll find another watch to use.

To better understand the situation, could you please let me know if you are tracking the elliptical session automatically or are you starting it manually?
If you are letting your watch start recognizing the exercise automatically, the activities have to be at least 15 minutes long.
Additionally, you can try to start the activities manually to see if something changes.
