Firbit Charge 5 not holding charge

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I know there are lots of posts about it, I am writing this one to give my feedback (I could not reply to previous posts, hence new post). I charged my fitbit charge 5 last night, I put it on my wrist at 8 pm. In the morning I saw an email saying my charge is low at 11%. I am going to try for another 2 days and see how its doing and then I am going to call the customer service. I got fitbit despite having an apple watch because I do not like to charge often. It is very disappointing. My last fitbit lasted few years before getting to this stage, and even at its worst, it did not discharge overnight, it at least lasted more than 24 hours.

Fitbit is 6 months old.

Mine will no longer charge.  It lately has been saying it is charged to 99%, but when I take it off the charger it dies immediately and will do nothing.  If I put it on the chager, it shows te fitbit symbol for a second, goes blank and if I tap it a few seconds later it shows it is charging and is only at 1%.  I have contacted tech support and they are sending me a new replacement one.  I am hoping that fixes it.  But I must say I am afraid of letting it update, if it does work

Thank you for sharing. As I said, I was going to contact the customer service after monitoring it for couple days. The main reason I chose fitbit over others was due to charging. So its extremely disappointing.

I had been using fitbit for many years.  Used the Charge HR for several years until the battery would not charge anymore.  Upgraded to the Charge 2 and used is for at least 2-3 years and was very happy with it.  I would not have upgraded to the Charge 5 except I was working in the yard digging post holes and busting concrete with a sledge hammer.  Somewhere that day, my band broke and I lost my Charge 2 and could not find it.  I suspicion that it got buried in a post hole.  So I decided to upgrade again to the Charge 5.  I have been very pleased with it until the latest update was sent out.  It was only like a week or 2 ago.  Soon after the update.  I noticed that it was not reading my heart rate.  And also noticed it was not recording the sleep.  The other thing was the battery stated not holding a charge.  At first it went dead in slightly over a day.  It kept deteriorating until it would not stay charged for a full day, and then, not even a 1/2 day.  That it changed from that and would not even charge.  I could keep it on the charger for over a day and it never charged.  THe first time I contacted tech, they said to turn off gps and a few other things, but it did not help.  Then it got to where it would be completely dead.  I could get the fitbit symbol to come up when I put it on charge and it went back to a blank screen and would not charge,  So I contacted tech again and they had me push the button on the charge cable,  It would buzz and the symbol would come up but nothing else.  So they are sending me a "complimplimentary " replacement.  Even though I am well within the warranty period.  Lol.  Anyway, I have messed around with it and got it to show it is charging, but it never goes above 99% and when I take it off charge, it immeadiately goes to a blank screen.  When I put it on the charger again, it shows it is completely dead and starts charging all over again.  But no matter how long I keep it on the charger it never goes above 99%.

It looks like there at least 5 to 7 working day wait to get a new replacement.  I suggest the get tech involved to you get the replacement process moving.  If yours is still working a little bit, it is way better than mine.  Mine is not doing anything

I just discovered on another forum topic that Google is going to quit supporting Fitbits in 2025.  It seems that we have all been sold a lemon.  Here is a link I found to an article about it.  Fitbit is phasing out Google sign-in support ahead of new account requirements starting in 2023 (xda...
