Fitbit Charge 5 battery problems since update

How many of you are experiencing battery problems since the update?

Could anyone who's experienced problems with the charge 5 battery please post once on this thread so it's easy to count and present to show it's not a warranty problem and is a result if the update.

I obviously have battery problems. Had to charge it twice yesterday and uninstalled the SpO2 app to try to make the battery last through the night. Managed to wake up to 50% battery instead of it being dead by morning, even though fully charged before bed.

Your story would be good for one of those tech sites that are still
touting Fitbit as the number 1 fitness tracker.

I'm glad yours was under warranty, but a refurbished as a replacement?! No,
just NO.

So, a new chapter on the saga. We spoke again with the Fitbit support ( at
least they respond quickly). So now they offer a new replacement as they
recognise there is something wrong with the refurbished unit they sent (I
suppose another refurbished unit will be the new replacement) BUT this time
around they first request to send back the faulty refurbished unit and only
then they will send the replacement. I asked if there were other options ,
but the response was no and only another replacement unit. I am getting a
little bit tired of this, but not in an economic position of just losing my
money and buy a new device (of course from other brand). It is pretty
obvious this particular model has a intrinsic problem refurbished or not
that they all die in 2 or so years. It just looking at the forums and it is
easy to realise that. Why keep the game on and not recognize it and just
refund us all? At this point they should be already spending the same price
of the device just sending back and forth by expedite mail to clients
faulty units.

My wife got the update on her Charge 5 and it started draining the battery and the display would no longer come in rendering the device useless.  Google denied any problem yet offered 35% off of a new one.  If the firmware is not the issue, why did they stop rolling it out?  My Fitbit 5 has still not received the update several months later.

Couldn't agree more and their refusal to even acknowledge a problem bothers
me most of all.

What is the software version causing the issue for the charge 5.  In the last week, this same thing happened to my fitbit.  Black screen even when charged and loses the charge within 24 hours or less.  Frustrating!  Mine has version 20001.194.91.  I don't see a date to know when I got this version.

I'm on the same version and have the same question.  I'd roll back happily if there was the option

Same issue

I received a "Sorry, your Fitbit Charge 5 doesn't work and is out of warranty" message. They were supposed to send me a 35% discount code to my email separately, but I never received it. It's been three weeks and I've sent three emails, but I still haven't gotten a response from customer service regarding the discount code. Now, I'm considering getting an Apple Watch instead.

In a heartbeat! I want my tracker back. I want my watch back.

So far there has been no indication that Google plans to fix the problem. At least, they haven't informed us of that.

They just keep digging a deeper and deeper hole.

My charger 5 showed a red circle with x inside it. I charged it and did reset and logo popped up but it will not sync to phone. Now green light is flashing on the back.

Mine just had an update and then started needing a charge every 9ish hours. Before the update it only needed a charge once or twice and week. This is ridiculous!

I too have problems since the update. My Charge 5 Fitbit won't hold a charge longer than 3-4 hours if I can get it to charge at all. When I do have a charge and wear it, the only function that works is the watch. What the heck?

Thanks for the info, I will try to get a complaint in!

I too have the same issue just overnight the charge 5 went from operating perfectly and holding charge up to 7 days to a black screen and not able to charge despite trying all the Fitbit solutions on the community board . Have raised with support but not holding out much hope of a response their chat line wasn’t operative when i tried that . I noticed someone has mentioned putting a complaint into BBB ???? Does anyone have details how to do this and has anyone else put in a complaint ???

I went to vustomer service online. Told them the situation. Asked for
replacement. Received email. They asked were I bought my fitbit charge 5.
Told me they'd get back to me. I bought mine at Costco. I received a
replacement. While seeing it up I was asked if I wanted an update. I said
No!! The new one is working perfectly. I believe having purchased it at
Costco made a huge difference. And the fact that it was in December of 2022
that I purchased it.

My Charge 5 battery started running down quickly in the past two weeks. I re-charged it on a Friday. It hardly registered that it had charged, and I tried different USB charging stations. Finally it went from less than 50% charged to 97%. It was nearly dead by Sunday afternoon. I charged it again for hours and it was "low battery" Monday evening. I don't use the GPS, the face is always off. It has been "charging" for a few hours now. After restarting it, it went from 37% to 94% charged, but I don't think it'll last two days. It used to last a full week. It was nice. If Google can't get this fixed they are going to lose a lot of customers. I just wish Garmin would make something smaller than a wall clock for your wrist!

Version 57.20001.194.1 purchased 10/2022

I had a major issue with my Charger 5 breaking, and on top of that, Fitbit responded quickly, but they didn't follow through with the promised 35% discount for a Charge 6. This happened over a month ago. Whenever I tried to contact them through live chat or phone, they could only provide a scripted response, and I wasn't able to speak with someone from sales directly. This was disappointing. If I can't get the Charge 6 with a substantial discount, how can they expect to keep me as a loyal customer?
