Fitbit Charge 5 battery problems since update

How many of you are experiencing battery problems since the update?

Could anyone who's experienced problems with the charge 5 battery please post once on this thread so it's easy to count and present to show it's not a warranty problem and is a result if the update.

I obviously have battery problems. Had to charge it twice yesterday and uninstalled the SpO2 app to try to make the battery last through the night. Managed to wake up to 50% battery instead of it being dead by morning, even though fully charged before bed.

The past few days I will charge it ans in 2 days it's down to 15%.

Mine shuts down even at 93% it is impossible to use.

At the begining it lasted a week and for the last months about 2 days. Now maybe several hours and it shuts down.

This seems this is a 'global' issue with the Charge 5 that FitBit does not want to acknowledge or deal with. It's been happening for over a year yet still no resolve.  You can add my name to the list.  I contacted Customer Support today and they said I just have to buy a new one.  Literally.  No explanation.  No apology for the issue.  Just that it's out of warranty (by a few days) so replacement is not a possibility.  Here's a discount code - give us more money for more of our junk.

If you look through all the Charge 5 threads and also Google "Charge 5 sudden battery drain" you will see countless customers all reporting the same issue within the last year.  Sudden battery drain.  Not gradual over time.  Nothing to do with the settings.  Sudden and unexplainable.  Something happened.  An update, a glitch, something that FitBit or Google or whoever did.  We all had great battery life (avg. 5 days) and then all of a sudden al of our devices can't hold a charge for more than a few hours?  This is not a coincidence.

So True!!!

Updates Fitbit today - now it won’t hold charge and isn’t even counting steps.

Almost glad to see these posts! I tried everything recommended and nothing changed. Dies after 8 hrs and only tells me time. Not recording any information. Clock after charging, is stuck at the time my Fitbit dies and needs to be reset. Useless and now need to look into another brand. Loved the Fitbit before google took over!

Yep, my fitbit has become very eradic since Google. They're going to ruin
your brand.

I threw mine in the trash a couple weeks ago.   I was officially done putting up with it.  Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

I finally got mine on track but still having issues with battery life! I
use to get 7 days, now lucky if I get 7 hours. I think google wants you to
buy into the Premium pkg for $79. Yearly! I refuse to do that. We’ll see
how long it lasts before I toss it too!

I am having the opposite effect possibly, I charged my Versa 3 while updating yesterday and it is still showing 99%??? I am not sure after 24 hours why it still shows 99%?  My issue is that if it is really 10% right now, I wouldn't know to charge it.  I track not only steps, but I use Glance clockface, which connects to my Dexcom to display my blood glucose readings as well.  Anyone else's watch mysteriously "working" exceptionally well by only going down 1% in 24 hrs?

Threw mines in the garbage months ago.

Mine just died….I think! Blank screen and won’t charge. I’ve cleaned both
watch port and charger, nothing working. I guess I have no choice but to
buy different brand since, it seems most models are facing issues. No
response from company, just consumers sharing their bad experience. I have
a feeling google wants to charge fee for using!

I had this issue and I had to hard reset the watch, then I started getting
the legitimate charge rates.

My charge 5 just updated last week and after 2 days of not working, resetting multiple times it finally showed the proper date and time and synced with my app. Now battery only lasts 1 day. Prior to the update to 194.91 it would last up to 5 days.

Tried asking for help thru Contact Us page, the only option is to "call us" and the phone numbers listed are:

Australia: +611800875234
New Zealand: +64800005470
Singapore: +6560222963
India: +18003097632

I'm in Canada, not helpful at all!

fyi my Charge 5 completely died after the update; wrong time, no step tracking etc. Called customer service and got a 50 percent discount on a Charge 6 which is working fine.

@Mhoustonfl Wishing you luck. Have you checked this community for issues with Charge 6? You may be surprised how many old issues live on in the new generation of Charges. - I declined their offer and will not buy another Google Fitbit again.

I find it amusing that there is a "Moderator Edit: Word choice" to your post but no help fixing the issue they seem to have created. Isn't it pretty obvious where Google Fitbit's priorities are: censoring posts instead of rectifying their mistakes?

Yes. They've kick a bunch of my comments out. Oh my charge 5 is still
keeping track of my steps on the app. Even though it's been dead for months
now. According to my app I'm doing pretty good.

I broke down and decided to buy the Charge 6 the last day my discount was
available. I struggled with the decision because I've completely lost
faith in the fitbit product line after this last experience and the lack of
clear response or true support from Google. However, I'm so married to my
tracker that I decided to roll the dice one last time. We'll see how this
goes...
