Fitbit Charge 5 does not sync accurately!

I went on a walk Saturday morning determined to meet my modest step count goal of 8000 steps. By evening, I did. My Fitbit Charge 5 vibrated to celebrate meeting my target.

Yet - the next day.. and to this day, my Fitbit app, after syncing, records that i took 1,719 on Saturday.

On my way to Church first thing Sunday morning, my fitbit had magically counted 6500+ Steps. At the end of the day I had 10,327 steps, which is a false record.

If the Fitbit app and tracker can no longer accurately count steps, I am very concerned. Anyone else notice this? How can I get these records amended. Fitbit app step count II.jpegFitbit Step Count.jpeg

Hi, welcome to the Community forums, @lorrieAB.

I appreciate all the information that you've shared about this problem you're experiencing with your Charge 5 and for the screenshot provided.

Keep in mind the algorithm is designed to look for intensity and motion patterns that are most indicative of people walking and running. When working at a desk, cooking, or performing other activities with arm movements, a device on your wrist may add some steps. When you’re doing activities that involve arm movement, such as working or cooking, you often walk a few steps in-between stationary periods as well, so the device tries to give you credit for those steps. For most customers, the number of extra steps added by arm-based movement isn’t significant when compared to your overall stats.

Before considering other options, and if you still consider the steps are not accurate, please make sure that you've tried the restart procedure as described in this article, then check if you continue to experience the same behavior. In the meantime, you can find more useful information about the accuracy of Fitbit devices and how to adjust your stride length and dominant hand settings here

If you wish to delete extra steps recorded, you can log a driving activity to override the information recorded. If you device didn't record your steps, you can also manually log your activity to add those steps to your records.

I'll be around.
