My third Charge 5 has just died 😞 The first one had awful battery life, and had to be replaced. The second died after swimming in the sea. I made a mental note at this point that Charge 5's do NOT like salt water. Sadly, my third has now died - I was fishing by the sea and submerged my Charge 5 into the sea for 1-2 seconds. I quickly dried it off and rinsed under fresh water, but by the evening the screen was no longer responsive.
I have since tried to charge it to see if that helped - the logo appeared several times and then quickly disappeared. Now the unit is completely unresponsive, and doesn't vibrate or display anything, even with the charging cable reset button being pressed.
I loved this device, and it has served me well. It is very frustrating that, despite being advertised as water resistant, 1-2 seconds of exposure to salt water renders the device a complete right-off.
Mine has just died as well.
No saltwater for me - just a suddenly unresponsive device. The hard reset does nothing. Wouldn't you know it, but the one-year warranty expired two weeks ago...!
I have had 4 Fitbits in the last 5 or so years, and this may well be the end of the road for me. Fitbits last for about as long as an avocado.
Best AnswerAgree. It seems the quality has gone down since google bought them out. My original fit bits 4 lasted for years. Wish I kept the earlier 4's. Only reason I stopped using it was due to a gift upgrade.
