I have the same problem, though it’s also not registering anything other than steps at the moment. Try to do ecg sleep or heart rate or gps and it is saying there is an error

Just set up my charge 5 and it’s losing charge every day. Sometimes in hours. Customer support was not helpful at first. The rep said even if it keeps draining they don’t do product replacements, which I dismissed out-of-hand as misinformation. (I’m sure Fitbit replace defective devices). Contacted Support a 2nd time and was given the steps for rebooting the device using the button on its usb cord. Was skeptical a reboot would do any good but it actually worked completely to fix the issue. Months later and it’s still holding its charge for days.
