Fitbit app showing thousands of miles in daily mileage count

I just noticed this evening after opening the Fitbit app. My daily mileage goal is 5 miles, and today it showed that I traveled 7,886.34 miles… I definitely didn’t. My step count, calories burned, and zone minutes seem right, and the miles average for the week/month/year are all pretty accurate to my goal. My mom also has a Fitbit but she has the Inspire 3 and her app is showing the same issue, at over 6,000 miles walked today. I’ve updated both my app, my Fitbit Charge 5 itself, and restarted my phone, but I don’t see the count changing to the actual count of 4.9 miles when I check it. Is this a glitch that Fitbit needs to fix or do I need to try something else, like clearing the cache?

Have you added your phone to track your steps? If so, this is probably the source of the steps.

Answers? Check the times these steps where recorded. What where you doing?

Manually log these periods as driving, the steps will be removed. To remove the awards, you will need to contact Fitbit

Not added anything, the steps aren’t logged. The total is showing as 5000km rather than 5km on the daily view but will be logged correct tomorrow when scroll back. So there’s code error on the display I guess

Your steps where logged. Look at the 2 peeks at hour 16. Open the app, hold your finger on each of these two peeks. You will see the time and steps count.

I think you've misunderstood me, The logged distance in the graph are correct, showing 2km etc in the peak…. Not 2000km as the total is suggesting. See below example the total is x1000km more that reality but the logged distance is correct. Tomorrow it will show the correct distance for today, it only happens on the total distance screen on “today”. So must be a code error in the calculation for the total , I have not walked over 4000km 🤣🤣

It's not just you melrose19.  It's been like this for a couple months after one of Fitbit/Google updates.  Seems to be only on the iso (Apple) Fitbit app.  The mileage bar on y axis is also way off.   I complained a while back but Fitbit/Google customer service is the pits.

Yeah I spent ages trying to explain the issue to customer services but they didn’t get it so I gave up

I am having the same issue, phoned support and gave them the specific details of the issue.

They said that the latest update would resolve it ...... nope !

The app is displaying meters instead of miles     1 mile = 1609.344 meters

Thanks. You got further than I did by figuring out it is meters.
