I finally got it to work.  It wouldn't restart any of the ways instructed.  But I went into my phone settings, turned off bluetooth then turned it back on.  Restarted my phone.  Then I went back into the app.  I was able to restart the fitbit using it's settings and then it just started working.  In the past I have been able to just install a new clock face and that would take care of any problems I might be having.

Hello!

After you restarted your phone, what did you do exactly? My fitbit is completely off.

Is the battery dead and won't charge?

HI 🙂  if you look on the community comments under FitBit Charge5 you will see a lot of us are having the same problems, I purchased september 2021 and am now receiving my 2nd replacement!! I am still waiting for FitBit to explain HOW can I get this watch to last longer! DEFINATELY  NOT a watch to purchase or recommend, never had a problem with it until now, problems arising are ,,  not holding charge, getting hot while charging, screen going black. I am STILL waiting for our community mod to give us all an answer as of yet all we get is the copy paste replies,  he removed my comment last time I said this.

I had all those same problems too.  Needed to charge some days 2 times.  But the last time I had issues, when I posted on this page I got it to work and it's been doing fine since.  Even the charging issue.  I can go 7 to 8 days now.  I'm not sure how long that will last so we will see.

Same thing happened to me, got a replacement and the top latch of the replacement won't hold the band properly.  First replacement process was actually pretty smooth...they just sent me a replacement and it was easy.  With this new problem I'm having to send the replacement in before they are willing to send me a replacement, so one week there and another week for the replacement?  The customer support supervisor was so cold and not understanding that I'm just about to embark on a trip, would like to have my watch...(even offered to pay for one with my credit card and then refund when they receive the broken one).  she was from a call Centre inJamaica.

Gotta say, not very impressed by the customer service.  Huge let down and disappointment right now for a company that I have supported for so long.  I'm totally rethinking my move to another type of watch..

I don't know if you got my last response but here is what I did.  When my Fitbit became unresponsive I tried to plugging it into the charger and it wouldn't respond.  So I went into my phone, turned off Bluetooth, then turned it back on.  Then I restarted my phone.  When my phone was completely booted up I went into the Fitbit app.  I clicked on my picture, then clicked on Charge 5.  Then I clicked on the Clocks button.  From there I choose a clock face then clicked install.  After the clock in stalls I believe it will restart the Fitbit.  I can't remember exactly without changing my clock again.  I don't really want to do that since it is currently working fine.  I hope this helps.

-------

Every time I had a problem with mine I changed the clock.  This last time though it wouldn't even respond to trying to install a new clock.  I did all the things I mentioned in a reply to dimarbeiz but I forgot how I was able to restart it.  Now I remember that after I restarted the bluetooth on my phone and then restarted the app my Fitbit started up and I was able to restart it using the settings in the watch.  Then I changed the clock face.  I haven't had any problems since, not even with charging it.  I do remember that previous there were times I had to take the Fitbit off because it felt like it was burning my skin.  I have not had any of those problems since.

--------

Now I remember that after I restarted the bluetooth on my phone and then restarted the app my Fitbit started up and I was able to restart it using the settings in the watch to restart it.  Then I changed the clock. I haven't had any problems since then.

happened to me too.  Spoke with customer service, after re-trying everything I had already tried they are sending a replacement.  Known issue, apparently there is a firmware upgrade in the works, to estimate on when it will be released.  If yours is under warranty request a replacement ASAP.

Mine seems to be working fine now.  I haven't had any problems since I did all the tasks described in earlier posts. One thing I did forget to mention is that I turned off the GPS feature.  I don't know if that was what caused me to have to charge it so often but now the battery is lasting 7 to 8 days.

Good that yours is working. I just went through all the same things. The Charge 5 got more and more unresponsive until it would no longer pair with my iPhone. Nothing I could do. After going through 2 chats and numerous steps, the customer support person finally agreed to have a replacement sent. However, this will take too much time and we are leaving on a trip so I won't get the replacement in time. I offered to pay for expedited shipping but "company policy" does not allow for this.

After being a loyal Fitbit user sense they first came out, this is my second Charge 5 replacement, and I am very unhappy with Fitbit's inability to fix these sorts of problems. Replacing the many that quit working is not a good long-term strategy for Fitbit.
