Hikes are auto detected, but are split into multiple exercises. How to merge?

I'll go on multihour hikes. My activity will be detected in ~1/2 hour to 1 1/2 hour increments before a new activity is detected. Activity is detected as walking, running, or aerobic activity. I'm able to change the activity type in the app to hiking, but I don't see anyway to merge the activities into a single one.

I've considered editing the first activity to extend the end time so that it encompasses the full hike. Then I would delete the additional detections. Unfortunately, the app isn't letting me edit the duration of the activity.

I haven't been manually tracking the activity because that uses more power and it will run out of battery. At least my previous Charge 4 would run out of battery before my hike ended if actively tracking the activity.

Hello @Zifnab ,

The auto detect is good for studio classes where there's a defined beginning and end, but not so practical for hikes and walks.

I think it would make more sense to add Hike as an Exercise Shortcut to your tracker and then Start and Stop as appropriate.  It won't use much of your battery unless you're using GPS too.  If I go jogging and use GPS, it uses about 10% of my battery an hour.  I usually don't use it as I go on the same route every time.

If you want to add it as a shortcut, go from the Today screen in the App on your phone.  Tap your profile picture, then Charge 5, then Exercise Shortcuts.  Swipe left to remove one you don't need, then select + Exercise Shortcut, tap Hike, then sync your Fitbit and it should turn up under Exercise on it.

I just quickly checked and the extra settings available if you swipe up after pressing the Start button are: Set a Goal, Heart Zone Notifications, GPS and Always On Display.  If they're all off, it shouldn't use much of your battery at all.

I hope that helps a bit.

Edited to add:

I think you should be able to edit the duration of the activities you've already registered by tapping on the 3 dots at the top right of the screen when you tap on the activity.  My walks around the town as auto detected and if I tap the 3 dots, there's an option to Edit Exercise Details.  If you tap that, you can change the start and stop times.

Using a shortcut on your tracker would probably be the best bet for the future though.
