How do I set up my Charge 5 replacement?

I need to know, step by step, how to remove my old failed charge 5, and install my new charge 5 seamlessly.

Hi there, @JemsJems1968. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post. I will do my best to help you with this! 

Before unpairing your old Fitbit device and setting up the new one, make sure that you've already synced your old Fitbit device so you avoid any data loss. Once done that, please try the steps below:

  1. Tap the Today tab > Then tap Devices.
  2. Tap Set Up a Device.
  3. Choose your device and follow the on-screen instructions to continue.


If you run into any issues while trying the above steps, please try the following:

  • Unpair your old Fitbit from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your new Fitbit again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Fitbit.

Hello @JemsJems1968 

Although you should be able to set up your device according to Maria's instructions, I usually recommend deleting your old Charge 5 from the Fitbit app first. Then setup your new device in the app.
