How do I stop swim tracking on Charge 5?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Please provide step-by-step instructions for the swim program on the Charge 5.  I was able to start it, but have no idea how to stop it.  I know how to unlock it but it just keeps counting.  This is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!  you should always provide clear instructions somewhere and I don’t find them anywhere.

I don't swim but have just checked the App and the Swim activity on the Charge 5 and am telling you what it looks like you need to do as it's similar to other exercises (apart from water lock).

Are you starting it manually from your tracker?  If you are, when you press Start, the counter should start and the water lock screen turns on.

When you've finished, you have to do the hard double tap to turn off the water lock.  Then you press the Finish flag on your screen to stop the counter.  It should show the time and an orange Done button.  Press that and it should show you your stats.

I hope that helps.  If you're doing it automatically rather than straight from your tracker, I'm not sure how that works...

Thanks for the input.  I know how to change settings and start the program.  The water lock is the problem as it is not very responsive.  You have to unlock it in order to stop the swim.  Supposedly you are to double tap the lock icon but that does not seem to work unless you it hit very hard with your knuckle.  And that is when it is dry.  I’m headed out to swim now so we’ll see what happens when it is wet.  It just shouldn’t be this difficult to stop any exercise program on a Fitbit.

Hi @Jberer. Welcome to the Community. @Wibby Thanks for your great help.

@Jberer I understand how frustrating this can be, and appreciate your efforts while working on this matter. Just to confirm, is the button responsive when using other functions? If not, please restart your Charge 5 to refresh its performance. Then try tracking your swim one more time and follow the steps described by @Wibby to turn off the water lock and finish your activity.

Hope this helps.

How can I get my charge 5 to track my swims with GPS?

Best Answer

@8wired probably have to put in a Feature Suggestion for that.

@8wired Welcome on board. @mikey_pdx It's good to see you here and thanks for your great advice.

@8wired Thanks for joining this thread and let me explain that currently it's not possible to track your GPS data while swimming with your Charge 5. However, as our friend mentioned, I'd also recommend posting this idea in the Feature Suggestions board so our developers can take this idea into consideration for new updates or product development. If you want to learn more about this board, see our FAQs.

Hope this helps.

There are no buttons anywhere on the Fitbit charge 5.  Everything is touch screen.  I have swum with it and gotten it to work by rapping hard on the screen with my knuckle so that to responds.

As the instructions on the Charge 5 say. Double Tap to unlock. This brings up a finish or continue screen.

However I find the double tap is tempermental, and can not get it to work consistently.
