I"m not a techo genius - but nor am I a techno idiot.
I cannot get my Charge 5 to recognize my iPhone.
I've rebooted, re-installed, powered down, updated the iOS, removed an other bluetooth devices, etc....
It is extremely frustrating for what should be a simple process to continue to fail seems lack of programming and sufficient instructions.
No matter what I try - the following messages are still received:
"Connection Unsuccessful Make sure "Charge 5" is turned on and in range OR
"Unable to connect Device. Please make sure your Fitbit is nearby and powered on and then please try again"
I'm not ruling our a PEBCAK error - but the process is surely flawed

I Googled Fitbit Customer Support called the number and got connected to a very helpful "Rashemia".
We removed and re-added the Charge 5 from the iPhone app as well as pressed the button 3-times (per written Quick-start instructions) on the USB end of the charging cable...All worked fine after that!
Thank you Rashemia!
