I have low battery notification on my Charge 5 device on. But it only gives me a low battery notification when the device is critically low. I can't even use it as a watch to tell time once that happens. How do I get battery notifications while the device is still usable?

Hello @drmariner and welcome to the Community. When you write that you have low battery notifications on, is this the path that you mean? Tap on your profile avatar > scroll down to Notifications. There are two lists for push and email notifications. Is low battery toggled on for either one? This low battery alert is supposed to give you a push/email at around 20-25% charge. If you have these on, try toggling them off, then back on.
If you are referring to a low battery alert on your Charge 5 screen, pages 20-21 of the Charge 5 manual describe what you should see. That description is exactly the same for my Luxe. Bit it isn't my main Fitbit, so I don't have personal experience with the screens. The first line troubleshooting for any misbehaving Fitbit is to try restarting it and see if that helps.
I take a very different approach to battery charging. I don't wait for my battery to get low. Letting your battery go below 20% is considered to be a deep discharge. Repeated deep discharges shorten your battery life. Taking off your Fitbit is good for your skin, so I never wear my Fitbit in the shower and charge it then, if it needs it.
