Hi @jonaf
Fitbits, as well as other trackers, use movement as one of the factors to determine if you are sleeping. If you are sitting or lying down doing a sedentary activity, like reading or watching a movie, the device will record the time as "sleep".
When this happens to me, I delete the erroneous sleep log. Sometimes, I have to correct my sleep log because my Charge 5 thinks I went back to sleep in the early morning, while I was playing a game on my tablet or reading on my computer. Conversely, I can be awake and lying in bed, not moving around much, which usually gets tracked as light or REM sleep. With this in mind, I find the sleep information generated by my Fitbit as interesting data. However, I don't rely on it to be accurate.
Truly accurate sleep data would require a different device - one that tracks EGG.
