At the end of July my Charge 5 went the way of so many we’ve heard about: losing battery charge in a couple of hours; failure to charge; black screen…..totally nonfunctional; basically dead. I tried for a week to get it to work again, but….nothing. Yes, I tried everything suggested by Fitbit moderators, customer support and other users. Nada. I gave up and bought a Garmin.
This morning I got my Charge 5 out just for fun, to see if I could get anything out of it. Put it on the charger, got the teal Fitbit logo immediately and…lo and behold…it started charging. Got to 100% in about an hour. I took it off the charger and set it aside to see what would happen.
Now, 13 hours later….it’s at 92% charged and looks to be functioning normally (except the date says August 2, because I have not synced it.) I’m wondering whether this is random, or if Fitbit issued a fix.
Nonetheless, I’m a Garmin girl now; I just don’t think I can trust Fitbit anymore going forward. But, for those of you in the same situation, there might be hope for your Charge 5. Of course, it remains to be seen how long this fix will last.

It actually happened to me - all of a sudden it stopped draining battery for 2 days, and worked totally fine, but after 2-3 days it started dying within 2-3 hours again. I would not be too hopeful haha.
Which Garmin did you get?

The Venu Sq, and I love it. It reminds me a lot of my Versa, which I never should have sold. I sold it when I bought my Sense, which I also loved, but it was just too big for me, so I sold that when I got the Charge 5.

Hi @stellafred
Thanks for providing an update & letting us know about the resurrection of your Charge 5.
I've seen a few other posts where the user's device came back to life after a long period of not working. Sadly, it doesn't happen often enough. And, we often can't wait that long for our devices to return to life.

Yep; that’s why I switched to Garmin; couldn’t/didn’t want to wait until there was a Fitbit fix, especially since they didn’t acknowledge the problem or say that a fix was coming (and STILL haven’t, to my knowledge.)
