Is it possible to activate GPS MAP when I use the Auto Recognize feature for outdoor biking?

my Outdoor Bike Ride is automatically detected but the GPS is not activated and the route is not recorded when I use the Auto Recognize of Charge 5.

Doesn't appear to do that. Only for Running:

*On Fitbit Charge 4, Fitbit Charge 5, Fitbit Ionic, Fitbit Sense, and Fitbit Versa series, the Exercise app opens automatically after a few minutes of running to track your activity with GPS.

I think for running GPS is also not automatically activated. Only if you start your run manually. If you use the auto recognize for running gps will also be off. See screenshot.

that is missing for the outdoor bicking . See screenshot. A selection to automatically enable GPS is missing.

Hello @ChrisR8  and welcome to the Community.  SmartTrack, Fitbit's auto recognition feature is actually an older method of tracking.  The first tracker that got it didn't have connect GPS capability.  Think of it as a stand alone tracking feature, different from the Exercise app.  It can't use GPS.  You must use the Bike shortcut in the Exercise app with GPS to get a map.

The feature mentioned by @mikey_pdx is a Run Detect Auto feature and it is only in the Run Exercise shortcut.  It is part of the Exercise app, not related to SmartTrack at all.

@LZeeW  thanks for the background on the exercise app.

i thought it would be nice if the auto recognize could also give you the option to enable GPS. As a new feature idea.

i always forget to start the capturing of a bike ride or running activity in the beginning. That is why i usually then don’t have the „map“ captured as well.

And the Charge 5 has built in GPS, so it’s sad that I can’t fully make use of it.

let’s see what will happen, maybe somebody from fitbit picks it up as a new feature for a next release.

@ChrisR8   I don't have a Charge 5, but the manual says the Run exercise shortcut has the "Run Detect" feature in the settings.  I think a similar "Bike Detect" is a great idea.  The way to pass this on to Fitbit is to start a Feature Suggestion and see where it goes.

Please check the settings in the Run shortcut to look for the Run Detect option.  This is how it it's worked for me.  When I started running, my Fitbit vibrated and the screen showed that a run was detected and did I want to turn on the exercise app.  If I selected yes, then the GPS has to connect (can take time).  This may or may not be a great idea on a bike.  You would have started your ride, then have to interact with your Fitbit and you might be in traffic.  Just a thought.
