Problem with counting steps Charge 5

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I don't know exactly what's the problem but my boyfriend and I did an entire day out, we've been walking all day together. His Fitbit (Versa 3) says he walked more than 24.000 steps (19km) and my Fitbit says I walked 16.000 steps (10.6km). We did the exact same walk. And it seemed that my Fitbit didn't always record when I was walking. How is it possible?

Welcome to the Community forums, @Jennpink.

I appreciate all the information that you've shared about this problem you're experiencing with your Charge 5.

I have seen differences when walking with someone else, since stride length and pace usually cause some of these differences. However, it's a bit odd that you see such a huge difference between his steps and yours while walking the same route. Before considering other options, please make sure that you've tried the restart procedure as described here below:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times within 8 seconds, holding each press for about 1 second.
  3. Wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.
  4. If the device doesn’t restart, wait 15 seconds to try again.

Then check if you continue to experience the same behavior. In the meantime, you can find more useful information about the accuracy of Fitbit devices and how to adjust your stride length and dominant hand settings here, as these settings are usually helpful to improve accuracy as well.

I'll be around.
