Rain, shower, obviously not a pool or bathtub. What's safe and what's risky water wise for a Fitbit Charge5

Hi, @webhostpro , when new your Fitbit is water resistant up to 5 meters (of pressure). You can easily exceed that by jumping or diving into a pool even less than 5 metres deep. Also waves can create significant pressure if you swim in surf. As long as you don’t exceed that pressure of water on your Fitbit, if the water resistance fails during the warranty period, Fitbit will replace your device.
However, you should be aware that over time the water resistance can be breached, due to exposure to skin creams, sun screens, and sunlight, and even general wear and tear, so my advice would be after that warranty period is over to limit the water exposure to rain and (possibly) to the shower - although I personally prefer to give my wrist a rest, and my Fitbit a charging boost, when I shower.
I especially wouldn’t wear an out of warranty Charge 5 in salt water, as the salt can do even more damage than the water.
If your Fitbit does get water inside, and seems dead or unresponsive, please resist the temptation to charge it! Instead dry it out first. Many people recommend putting it in a bag of uncooked rice - the rice will help absorb the water - for a good 48 - 72 hours before attempting a charge and a restart .
I hope this helps!

FYI, "put it in rice" doesn't work nearly as well as just putting it in a well ventilated area.

Hi, @UlrikeDG , I think you have mentioned that before! I am not sure whether or not you are correct. If we had two Fitbits exposed to water for the same amount of time we could do the test, but I am not sure I have yet seen this done. In the meantime, the general recommendations for some time have been to try rice, so that is why I continue to recommend it until I have more information.
