The directions say there is a reset button on "the flat end of the charger." This is confusing. The reset button is on the USB plug end of the charging cable. I hope this helps anybody who was confused as I was. I have seen several posts where people say there is no reset button.

@rroeder Thank you for sharing your feedback about this.
The button is located at the end of the USB cable:
Let me know if you're able to complete the restart successfully and if you're having any specific problem with your device.
I'll be around.

My Fitbit started having issues this morning not syncing to my iphone, I went through all the troubleshoot tips and here I am 3 hours later with no fix. Now it seems that my Fitbit doesn't want to charge either. It was working fine when I went to bed last night. So frustrating since I just got it for Christmas.

thanks - you are the only person on here who actually helped me. I finally found the button & reset. Of course either resetting or re-adding the app wiped my history from this morning, but at least it's working again. I'm grateful for your help, even if disappointed that this product is clearly not the greatest (I only bought it a couple of months ago - I never had problems with the first fitbits they came out with but these newer models have been awful).
6/30/22 - I'm having trouble syncing today also, so I'll do it again. I've tried all of my other tricks. Updated the app, turned phone off & on, turned bluetooth on& off, etc ... nothing working today. Stand by my opinion of this product. Used to be much better. But also tried Garmin and I didn't like the way they limited options. So I'm back to this. It's frustrating. I wish someone would make a decent tracker that would work, without all the bells & whistles that I don't need. And this morning's 3K steps now gone - of course.

It's not working for me. It's just flashing the Fitbit logo every few seconds.

My new Charge 5 has a USB cable, but connects to the back of my Charge 5, so no reset button. Can't get the Charge 5 to set up. Get message telling me all the things I need to do and retry. Still comes back with the same message. My Fitbit mobil app no longer displays my steps or my sleep. Help please.

Hi, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @Divine722 @Linfs.
You can find the button to complete the restart procedure at the end of the charging cable:
In addition to the restart, you can also try changing the clock face option, as this has been useful for other users. However, if you're having trouble to set up the device, you should be able to complete the three pulse restart method first
@Divine722 I've been informed that you already contacted the Customer Support team for further assistance with this. In this case, they will let you know how to proceed.
I'll be around.

First off, I want to know who decided THAT was a useful reset process and who up the chain approved it as reasonable, understandable, and in any way intuitive. There is no room for debate that the process to reset the device should not require resorting to message boards, it should be obvious and I intuitive. Come in FitBit!
Second, it doesn’t work. I swam with my Charge 5 in water mode. Now it won’t come out of water mode. No amount of “tapping three times” on the screen makes anything happen. So I try to reset it - using this absurd process - and again, nothing happens. I’ve had this thing for less than a year and I continually find myself needing to search the boards for info on how to make it wake up after something it was allegedly programmed to do doesn’t work. All this reset process does is make the device itself get hot. It is just a piece of junk or is there some other arcane process or piece of knowledge I have to request from a Fitbit guru to make what should be a simple device function as advertised?
