Ridiculously Inflated Activity/Zone Minutes

A couple months ago my Fitbit 5 started recording activity minutes that I wasn’t earning. In just a few minutes, the Fitbit would go from 4 or so minutes of activity to 25 or more. It would also tell me I was earning zone minutes when I wasn’t. I’ve tried uninstalling, reinstalling, resetting, and verifying that I am on the most recent version. Any ideas why this is happening?

Check your birthdate in your Google account.  Some people found that it was set at 1900 and Fitbit had started using that, throwing off all the zone calculations.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

It was indeed set to 1900. I’ve changed it, and I’ll see how it works now. Thanks—that is not something I would have thought to check.
