Screen turning on for no reason

My charge 5 is turning screen on all the time, even if my arm is still, or the tracker lays still charging. This drains the battery really fast. What can I do to fix it?

Welcome back to the Fitbit community, @valkyrien!

Sad to hear you're having issues with your Charge 5. As a first approach to hopefully get things fixed, I'd suggest restarting it. Before doing so you should make sure you've synced your device to not lose any data tracked so far. Also you should verify that the charging contacts on your device are clean and the charging pins on it's charging adapter are clean as well and can move flawlessly. In doubt, please have a look here:

How do I clean my Fitbit device?

Next please closely follow these instructions as timing is crucial for this procedure:

1.) Connect your Charge 5 to the charging cable which has to be connected to a reliable power source.
2.) Press the button located on the flat end of the charging cable 3 times within 8 seconds(!), holding each press for about 1 second(!).
3.) Wait around 10 seconds until the Fitbit logo appears on your device's display.

I'd like to point out that it sometimes requires more than one attempt to restart Charge 5. So, before throwing the towel, please give it another try.

If this won't work for you, there might be an issue with the clock face that currently is being used with your Charge 5. So please try to if installing a different clock face will fix this issue. Here's how to do that:

How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device?

If your Charge 5 is working fine after having switched to a different clock face, you should be able to change back to the clock face you previously have been using.

Hi @valkyrien

In addition to @Talahthas suggestions, you might want to check your display settings on your Charge 5 to confirm Always-on Display didn't accidentally get turned on.

  • From the clock face, swipe down until you see the Settings tile (last one) and tap on it
  • Tap on Display Settings
  • Swipe up until you see Always-on Display and confirm it isn't on
  • You might want to also confirm Screen Time Out is set to Default

I have tried all of these things, and it’s now worse. Now the screen not only wake, but are scrolling through the different screens too. I was able to film a bit, but don’t know if I can post video here?

Thanks for reporting back, @valkyrien , although I would have liked to read something different.
Not need to hassle with posting a video on that. Regarding what you've described, I'm pretty sure that there's a shortage on your device's display. So I'd recommend contacting Fitbit support for further assistance:

I’ve been at it with support chat now, and have done a factory reset. So far it’s acting as it should, so I hope it’s good now 😊

Thanks for posting, @valkyrien. Fortunately I seem to have been wrong thinking about a hardware failure.
Keep enjoying your Charge 5!
