I’ve had a few other Fitbit my last one was a charge 4-which had the stairs climb feature which I find helpful, I climb a lot of stairs.  I upgraded to the charge five and I thought it had the stairs climb feature on it also is there any plans to add to feature to the charge five I miss it  ?

Charge 5 does not have the hardware altimeter so could not be add via firmware update.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Disappointing indeed. I wonder if a fix would be found!

Best Answer

I sure would wish so. There are many other things I could like without.

Best Answer

Yes, my 4 broke and I had to replace it with the 5.  The lack of floor counting is making me look at other options.  This seems like a horrible feature to remove.

I went for a hike wearing my Charge 2 a couple of wks ago. Did roughly 14km and burned 3007 cals having climbed the equivalent of 204 floors. Walking uphill burns more cals then walking on the flat, so if i did the same walk wearing my new charge 5, would it show the same amount of cals burned as it wouldn't take the uphill climb into account.

Fully agree!  Extremely disappointed to find no stairs app on the Charge 5!!!! Bad move.

Best Answer

Really disappointing!! I am not ok with that move! I am to look into a competing product now.

SAME with me!! I was sure it would count stairs also - as it is expensive!

Best Answer

I was very disappointed as well.  I liked the stair count and there is something to be said of that metrics.  They should have least let us know they are discontinuing that feature.  It seems like a "step" backward!

Best Answer

Floors counted should be added to 5 features

Best Answer

Very disappointed this isn't on charge 5!! Seems crazy to get rid of it!!

Best Answer

Also very disappointing, with much time wasted searching for the stairs feature prior to finally logging into the forum to see so many others expressing the same feelings.  In purchasing the Charge 5 I assumed it would have all the features of my earlier model, plus a bit more.  So frustrating, I need to climb a mountain to get over it!

Best Answer

I discovered same after updating when Charge 4 broke down. I am very annoyed, they advertise all the new frills but not that they have downgraded a function, and why on earth do it. Hills, climbing, are all major exercises, I will be leaving the Fitbit ecosystem now and wanting my money back. Stupidity.

I agree with you 100%. If Fitbit does not add back stair count in their next version, I too will leave. It would be a big and difficult change for me since I have been with Fitbit since close to their start.

So disappointed. Didn’t expect my new Fitbit would have less features than my old one. Wouldn’t have bought it! Feel cheated. I used to challenge myself by counting stairs climbed.

Best Answer

My thoughts too precisely. Not exactly advertised is it! I couldn't believe it and wasted my money.

Best Answer

I sure felt cheated also. I assumed the same. A fitness tracker without stair counting does not add up. I was extremely disappointed after spending that amount of money.
