Step count goes up while swimming

I walk to my pool & my Fitbit 5 correctly counts my steps of 1k  I then put my watch into swim mode, swim for an hour, come out of swim mode & then find my watch has added 5k steps.

This messes up my step count for the day, I contacted Fitbit we mailed me with what I suspect was a standard reply, pushing a stroller or a supermarket trolley can effect step counts.

I have never pushed a trolley or stroller while swimming so any help? reluctant to do a reset.

Hi, @cleethorpes101, welcome to the community, we are told steps are not recorded while swimming but this is not correct, see the end of How do I track swims with my Fitbit device? If you are involved in a community challenge of any kind this is a bonus.

If you want to delete steps attributed to a swim this article tells you how How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities?

I hope this helps.

Cheers
