Like many others, my wife's Charge 5 was having problems of blank screens and no matter how many times I followed the routine problem solving tests of rebooting through the cable switch and all other techniques that were identified in these community topics...nothing worked.
After getting out the original box and getting ready to send the watch back as it was still under warranty, I thought I would examine the back of the watch with a strong magnifying glass and examine the contacts at the back. Now my wife swims in her watch and also uses hand creams, and here was the cause of our problems:-
The back has 4 contacts but only two are required to charge the watch. Both contacts were coated in a shell of dried hand cream. This could only be seen through a magnifying glass. The contacts on the charger clamp are tiny brass spheres that rest against the contacts on the watch under pressure from the magnetism that holds the watch to the charger together. These cannot cut their way through any hand cream build-up.
Seeing that there was a film of dried cream, I gently scraped the contacts on the watch with a fine scalpel and re-connected the watch to the charger. All signs were that the watch was charging and after a short while it came to life as it used to do. Now the watch works perfectly. I am pleased that I decided to examine those contacts before returning the watch to the suppliers.
So my suggestion to all of you having problems that you cannot seem to solve....just clean the contacts and see what happens then !

A warm welcome to the forums @dancingenius.
Thank you for sharing your experience regarding the Charge 5 and for letting me know how you managed to solved it.
It was wise that before returning it you took the magnifying glass to examine it. I'm sure that many of the difficulties experienced with batteries not charging have to do with dirty contacts. I'm pretty sure that your experience will be helpful to other users.
