My Charge 5 is unresponsive. A hard start does not remove the black screen. There is no response to charging, the app indicates a previous 65% charge. Bluetooth cannot locate the Charge 5. There are no lights on the back. This happened after I went swimming. It is less than a year old.

Sorry to see that your Charge 5 is unresponsive.
Since you don't see any lights on the back, that indicates to me that your device is no longer working. You should contact Fitbit support (<-- click link) to see what are your warranty options since your Charge 5 is less than a year old.
