Unwanted Motivational Notifications

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have turned off ALL notifications, including texts and emails. I have "Reminders to Move turned OFF but

I am still getting 2 very annoying notifications when I run:

"You're in the fat burn zone" and "Good work! You're in cardio". That may not be exact verbiage but close. Just those 2 messages.

Can anyone tell me how to stop this? I have done restarts and factory resets many times.

Between that and the GPS problems I'm really disappointed in this product. Thanks.

On the Charge 5, swipe to Exercises, then scroll to "Run".  Tap on Run (as if you were starting a Run, but don't hit play.) On the "Run" screen, swipe up to find the "Heart Zone Notifications".  Turn it "off".

Edited to add:  I think the Charge 5 is a great device (missing a few features like Weather and Agenda, maybe coming soon?) and it's a big upgrade (Smart Wale Alarms, Fitbit Pay, a screen readable outdoors!) from my Charge 2. It's been working flawlessly for me and has 5 days (at least) of battery life.

Done. I'll have to wait till my next run but many thanks for that!

If you tell me how to get GPS to connect at least half the time I would TRULY appreciate it. Done everything. Thanks again.

The C5 uses GPS two ways: "connected" AKA "Phone" GPS (meaning using the Phone's GPS) or "on device"  AKA "Built-in" GPS (meaning just using the GPS built into the C5. There is also a "Dynamic" mode which will use Phone or Built-in depending on if the device can connect to the Phone at the time of the exercise.

There are two settings for this.  First, you have to set the general GPS setting to one of the following 3 settings:  "Phone", "Built-in" or "Dynamic".  I would set it to "Dynamic" for now to see if GPS is working at all.  Reach the GPS setting by swiping down from the time screen (on the C5) and swiping to "Settings."  Tap on Settings, then swipe up to GPS.  Tap GPS and then tap the GPS settings to toggle between "Phone", "Built-in" or "Dynamic."  Stop on Dynamic.

Next, for each Exercise Mode, there is a GPS on/off setting.  Make sure this is ON.  On the C5, swipe from the time screen to the Exercise screen and select "Run" (for example.). Swipe up and make sure the GPS toggle for that exercise is turned "On."

To test, put your phone in airplane mode and start an exercise that has GPS enabled.  You would see an indicator on the C5 screen that shows GPS is connected.  After the exercise, sync with your phone and see if a GPS track was recorded in the App.

To test "connected" GPS, have airplane mode turned off and connect the phones GPS.  On my phone I have to switch "Location Mode" from "Battery Saving" to "High Accuracy."  Sync with the C% from the app and make sure you have a good sync before starting the exercise.  If you have a good sync, start the exercise and when done, see if you have a good GPS track for it in the app.

Maybe there is something wrong with the GPS on your C5?  Maybe try a device reset.

I have my C5 set to "Dynamic: and mostly use connected GPS because it saves the battery on the C5, but I have used both.

I would start with "on device" GPS.

I have tried all the things you suggested including restarts and clear data. Sometimes it connects, mostly not, so the GPS is "working", albeit sporadically. I use built in GPS; if I have to use the phone it's useless for me, running is the one time I get away from it. The onboard GPS is the ONLY reason I bought this watch (and the previous Charge 4). I may have a lemon. I am working with Fitbit support on this. Appreciate your help, thanks.

I've been late in replying because I was waiting for the replacement C5. I turned off "Heart Zone Notifications" and that seems to get rid of motivational notifications but I still got a notification of "Active Zone Minutes", the chevron or 3 "sergeant's stripes" with "Great Work" or similar. I've looked and looked but there doesn't seem to be a way to disable AZ Minutes notifications on the C5. According to the Google Play where I installed the phone app it's ver 3.52. Not a major thing and I appreciate your help.
