Water lock did not work Charge 5

I used the water lock feature 3 days in a row in a pool.  Seemed to work fine first two days but after the third day the screen turned bright white with occasional flashes of lines.  Went totally dead the next day.  Have had it 15 months so it is out of warranty.  Should I not use the replacement I purchased in the water although it is advertised to work up to 50 meters?

Waterlock doesn't make your watch more waterPROOF. It just turns off the touch screen so it won't be activated by water. https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1598.htm

Hi, it's good to see you visiting the community forums, @LN6052

Thanks for all the information you provided about this inconvenience with your Charge 5.

As you mentioned earlier, the Charge 5 should be water resistant up to 50 meters, and as @UlrikeDG pointed out as well, the Water Lock feature should help to lock the screen and prevent unwanted taps during your swimming activity, but it's not related to the device withstanding rain, splashes and any contact with water during your activities.

In this case, I've gone ahead and sent your information to the Customer Support team for further assistance, so you should be getting a reply soon.

Thank you for the info. I thought that by activating the water lock feature would prevent water from getting into the tracker. If I should get a new Charge 5 and swim with it, and it is fried, would it be covered by warranty?

@alexT66 only if you are still within your warranty period.

@alexT66 No problem.

Yes, since the device should be water resistant, if you have this problem while swimming with it, the team would need to review your warranty status. You can find the complete warranty policy here. This would start counting from your original date of purchase.

It seems that may people are having issues with their Fitbit while/after swimming.  Are you recommending that we no longer swim with it on?  \

Or stop swimming with it after the warranty period is over?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @libby1474

Thanks for sharing your inquiry about your Charge 5.

Please keep in mind there are millions of active Fitbit users, and although it may seem that everyone is having this problem by the comments shared in the forums, the majority of users haven't experienced any issue while swimming with the device.
