I recently bought my Fitbit Charge 6 and as far as using it as a step counter, it is a waste of time. I ride a motorcycle and it counts steps while riding. Today riding into work it has me at 3552 steps and 1.69 miles. I reality, I probably walked less then a 10th of a mile with only a few hundred steps.
If there was a way to pause or turn off steps and someone knows, please share.

Fitbit never turns off steps recognition. There was a possibility to log in driving activity and cancel steps from specified timeframe but I don't know if it's still possible. Turning off steps counting isn't possible.

That's a major reason for me to not upgrade my Charge 5 to a Charge 6. I know this has been an ongoing problem through several generations of Fitbit trackers, but Fitbit does not seem interested in finding a fix for those of us that ride motorcycles.

You can manually log the time as driving, or motorcycle. There use to be two different apps that would automate this process.

I read a suggestion somewhere that when driving the FitBit could be taken off as a solution to stop making steps that hasn't happened.

@Daisy1972 if the tracker is bouncing around the seat, it may be counting steps. I've never seen a post suggesting to take off the tracker.

What a joke! The workarounds are so clunky and ridiculous. Why can't they simply add a BASIC PAUSE BUTTON somewhere that is swipeable from the watch face. Or at worst, have a way of turning the thing off temporarily (it can't be turned off, just restarted. Unless you let the battery drain). I spent $100 on this thing and if I have to drive somewhere on a given day, it's basically useless for that day. PLEASE ADD A PAUSE BUTTON.
