App showing more steps than Charge 6

The app for the lasr week has been adding sometimes over 15k+ more steps than whats showing on my device. I tried restarting my device, logging on and off on my app, restarting my app and my phone itself. Every time I open the app and refresh, the step count increases by 5k (even though I only refreshed after 60 seconds). It also counts steps when the tracker is sitting on the counter. How can I fix this?

By chance did you add your phone as a device connected to Fitbit? If so, try disconnecting it. I think it's meant to let you use your phone to count activity if you don't have a fitbit device. So it could be incorrectly adding the extra steps - apparently very inaccurately.

Hello @ss888

To add to @bobdob 's reply, the way you can check if you added your phone as a connected device in the Fitbit app is:

  • Tap on the device icon in the upper left of the Today app
  • You should see your Charge 6 listed under Devices. If you also see "phone" listed, then you have enabled the option to use your phone to track steps & exercise when you're not wearing your Fitbit

To remove your phone as a connected device, tap on the phone tile and complete the prompts to disconnect your phone.

Just to clarify, removing your phone as a connected device will not affect how your Charge 6 syncs with the Fitbit app on your phone.
