Can't migrate to Google to set up Charge 6

Hi everyone,

My Charge2 died after 6 years 2 days ago. I needed a new tracker so I bought a Charge 6. Here is my problem: I can't set up this tracker to my app. I have the app since 2016 and refresh it daily.  I have a Google account (who doesn't?)

So I clicked "Set up a device" and tried to add Charge 6. After clicked 'Set up" a new window pops: "Haven't moved your account? In order to set up this device, you should first move your accont to Google".

I have no problem with this. But if i click "Proceed" the app suddenly closes with an error message. If i click "maybe later", it moves me back to the page where I can select the device, and nothing happens.

At my Account, there is a "Third party apps" button. If I click, "Manage 3rd party apps" pops up. I click, and it wants me to sign in with my Google account. This is the same account I use since 2016. When I log in, a message pops up says "this email is used with a different Fitbit account. Your chosen Google Account uses an email address that's already registered with a different Fitbit account". YES, THAT'S ME!!!!

I have a second Google account too. Should I try to add this instead of the one I used since the begining? I'm afraid all my data will be lost if I do this.

Any advice?

Thanks.

It sounds like you have 2 Fitbit accounts. Are you logging into one of the fitbit accounts with a google email, and trying to move the other fitbit account to that google login.

You currently are log into this comunity through an account that was created in 2016. Is this a Gmail Address that you logged in with? If so, you should be able to switch to this google login.

Is your Fitbit app logged into the same account that you are logged in this comunity with.

Im trying to come up with any scenario that might be happening

Welcome back @TitaniaBell@Rich_Laue Thanks for your help.

@TitaniaBell Thanks for the detailed information, and the steps tried prior to posting. I'm sorry you're having this experience and let's work on this together. I understand you already tried that, but let's attempt to migrate to Google before connecting your Charge 6. Before anything else, make sure the Fitbit app is updated and you're logged in to the correct account (the one created in 2016). Then, give a try to the following steps:

  1. In the Fitbit app, tap the gear icon at the upper right corner
  2. Under "Move your account to Google account", tap Move Account
  3. On the "Move your family to Google" screen, tap Get started
  4. Enter the required information and follow the on-screen instructions
  5. You can also check this video for step-by-step instructions

Once this is done, try setting up your Charge 6 one more time as described here.

I get the message “Can’t use Fitbit with this Google Account” “This could be because you’re using a Google Workspace Account”

I’ve been using Google Workspace for my personal email address for 24 years, so I don’t want to change.

what are my options?

Best Answer

@Madwand might be that your only option is to create a second Google account.

Then set your main account to retrieve messages from this account

That’s what I’ve done, but it really isn’t a solution! Google need to sort this

Hi there, @Madwand@Rich_Laue Thanks a lot for your help!

@Madwand Thanks for joining this thread and sharing more details about your experience. I'd like to clarify that we currently don't support workspace accounts to complete the migration process. As our friend mentioned, our best advice is to use a different Google Account or create a new one to access your Fitbit account. You can find more information about it in this help article.

I understand your point of view, and appreciate your feedback. Please know that we'll keep working to make Fitbit more useful for you!

Thanks Lizzie

This works, but it’s not at all satisfactory. I’ve been on workspace for almost 25 years, and I’ve been paying for the privilege for a number of years. Why would Google mistreat me in this way?

I have the same problem of trying to setup the Charge 6 tracker.  I have two google accounts the workspace  email that will not allow me to migrate the Charge 6 to and request that I pick another account.  When I use the other gmail account and attempt to sign in I get the following message "Your chosen Google Account uses an email address that's already registered with a different Fitbit account".  My only options are to sign out of the Fitbit account or Choose a different account. So the question is how do I delete the fitbit account that the second email is linked to so that I can setup the Charge 6.

I was forced to sign out of my Fitbit account in order to use my Google account. I can then setup the Charge 6 with my Google account but my previous data does not show up. Everything starts from zero.
How do I import my data?

Hello @katsudon70

You should have been prompted to migrate your Fitbit account to a Google account. It looks like you created a new Fitbit account, not migrated.

There isn't anything that we can do on the forums to help you. You might try contacting Support (<-- click link) to see if they can help you.

Hi all,

I was able to setup the charge 6 by logging into my google account that
wasn't workspace email. I then deleted the older Fitbit that was linked to
the account.

Thank you

it wouldn't let me migrate, it kept saying there was a Google Account already associated. “Can’t use Fitbit with this Google Account”

I was able to connect Charge 6 to another gmail account that wasn't linked
to Workspace. I had to delete an older Fitbit that I no longer use from
the account.
