Charge 6: Unable to download ECG PDF

ANSWERED

So far I have been unable to download any ECG reports. I tried removing and reinstalling the ECG app, reinstall Fitbit app, rebooting, clearing cache but nothing works.

When I click the 'export as pdf for your provider '  I get exporting pdf ' and no push notifications. I am using android 12 on a one plus phone.

Accepted Solutions

I managed to fix my issue.

Forget about permissions, uninstalling etc etc. in the new Fitbit app I clicked on the square box on the today tab. These are notifications and messages. In the notification tab I could see a whole list of ' your heart rhythm assessment pdf is ready to view'. Once I clicked on the link I was presented with a prompt to view.

Once I completed this process push notifications started to work when downloading other ECG pdfs.

I hope this helps.

I don't get a push notification either. The file will be found in your phones download directory. It will start with your Fitbit login name_ECG

So do a search for ECG

There isn't anything in my download folder either.

I am still having the same problems and support hasn't been much help. I keep getting links to outdated documentation.

I have

reinstalled the ecg app and restarted
logged in and out
Cleared cache
Uninstalled Fitbit app
Set app to run as background and all notifications turned on
One thing I have not done is put it on another phone because I don't have one.

I can see the results on my Fitbit app but when I click 'download to pdf' and click 'got it' nothing is showing. It is almost like the request isn't happening.

Nothing in my download folder either.

@tdsmithj what you've done is figure out a workaround, unfortunately the issue of selecting an ECG and exporting from the list rather than notifications still exists, for me at least. It looks like a bug that needs fixing.

Have you tried re-installing the app?

Best Answer

Once I did the initial download from the notifications tab all other push notifications worked when I click on the 'download file for your provider'.

This is whay I did. Uninstall, (5min rest), re-install the Fitbit app, try again the ecg-pdf download, but this time the app asks for permission to acces files and sth else in my phone, give permission and pdf downloaded.

Open your Fitbit app then at the top right there is a chat shaped box, open that and you will see the notification tab.

Regarding the proposed solution to "click on the square box on the today tab" in the FitBit app:  That "square box" is the notifications icon.  And so the reason why a "whole list" of rhythm assessments were shown under this icon is because you are seeing all of the posted notifications that did not get pushed onto your phone's screen.

The solution is to go through the FitBit settings and turn on notifications specifically in the "Messages" option ("You receive a private message.  Incoming messages may be delay if push notifications are disabled").  Sure would be nice if Google/FitBit made it clearer that you need to turn on this notification option in the FitBit app.  An hour of frustration reading all the other posts (and frustrations) and I fixed the problem 15 seconds later by turning on Message notifications.

thank you SO much for posting this - I checked a number of different questions/answers in here and it wasn't until I found yours that I was able to download them!

I follwed all your instructions to the letter, but a message keeps appearing stating "Failed to save document". Tried half a dozen times, and each of the results can be seen in the Notifications section stating "PDF is ready! check it out". Finally ran out of patience and will ask my GP to do a ECG instead

😕

Maybe it is your PDF viewer or reader. Can you read other pdfs? Did the app ask for permission to access files when re-installing? Hope It helps.

You may have already tried this but figured I'd share exactly what I did (based on someone else's reply above) to solve this problem a couple of weeks ago.  When you launch the app, in the upper right corner there is an almost square box to the left of the circle with your photo in it.  If you click on that little square it will launch a screen called Messages but there's a second "tab" to the right of Messages called "Notifications" and that's where you'll see a whole bunch of "Your Heart Rhythm Assessment PDF is ready! Check it out" and when you click on each message it will give you a "Download PDF" button towards the bottom of the page.
