Charge 6 Walk Detect

ANSWERED

I disabled Walk Detect on my Charge 6 but it still detects walks. Does 'off' not mean 'off' in the strange world of Fitbit?

Hello @jontris and welcome to the Community.  Here is some additional information to help you as a new user.  The Charge 6 has two different features that automatically detect certain activities.

  • Walk/Run/Bike Detect.  This feature turns on the Exercise app for those activities.  It will use GPS, if enabled.  You disabled it for Walk.  You might want to disable it for Run, too.  A very brisk walk can set off Run Detect.
  • SmartTrack.  This is the feature mentioned by @Triletics.  It recognizes seven activities: Walk, Run, Outdoor Bike, Elliptical, Sports, Aerobic Workout, and Swimming.  It doesn't use GPS.

You disabled Walk Detect, but your walk was recognized by SmartTrack.  Here is the path to turn off SmartTrack: Tap on your profile avatar in the upper right of your Fitbit app > Activity & Wellness > Exercise > tap on Walk and toggle it Off.  Repeat for other activities.

You need to disable it in the Fitbit app on your phone as it also may detect the walk.

I can't see where/how you do that.

@jontrisDo you have a gear icon in the upper right of your Fitbit app, instead of a profile picture/avatar?  Tap on that.  Directly above the pencil icon.

@LZeeW This doesn't work. There is currently no way to stop the Charge 6 from aggressively auto-notifying you of walks, whether you want walks detected or not. Awful.
