Charge 6 didn't track sleep stages

The most recent update changed the sleep data display. More changes today--no more REM, Light, and Deep sleep data--only number of minutes spent Awake, Restless, or Asleep. This is very disappointing. Why is Google taking away valuable information from this tracker?

Hello @Nanchanah

Sorry to see that you didn't get your sleep stage information for last night. Google hasn't removed sleep stages from the Fitbit app.

Did you get any data for your Health Metrics for the same period?

Since you only got Awake, Restless, or Asleep data, that indicates to me that your heart rate sensor was off. The heart rate sensor is needed for tracking sleep stages. Have you had a chance to see if your heart sensor is on? You can check by putting your finger across the back of your Charge 6, then lifting your finger. You should see a green light on the back of the device when you lift your finger.

If you don't see the green light, you should double check that the sensor didn't accidentally get turned off:

  • Swipe down from the clock face on the Charge 6 until you see the Settings tile and tap on it.
  • Swipe up until you see Heart rate & confirm it's turned on

Let us know if you were able to get your heart rate sensor turned back on.

Hi,
My heart rate sensor is on. It was not ever turned off. But today, I am glad to say I did get the chart showing the sleep stages, like before. Yesterday was the only day for which there was no chart. I will be checking to see if that happens again. Thank you for your response and suggestions.

My charge 6 has so many glitches, I will probably cancel my premium subscription. I have had every Fitbit since the Fitbug and have never had so many issues. I have followed every recommendation that has been thrown my way on the Charge 6. I haven’t had a sleep score in forever. The latest note says, “you don’t have 14 nights of sleep data in April. However, the app shows sleep data for every day in April. Secondly, breathing rate hasn’t worked in a month. Thirdly, the heart rate data is way off.  Does anyone else see all these issues about the time Google took over?

I’ve had the same problem. For a couple of days all is well, then just minimal sleep data, then all the data comes back. The band is appropriately tight. Heart monitor is on.

I’m glad to hear this! It happened to me this morning and I was super disappointed to think the info had been removed. I hope mine goes back as well. (My heart monitor is on and working).

This problem seems to be random. Over the past 20 days my Fitbit 6 has given 6 non-consecutive nights of complete sleep data and 14 nights of incomplete data. For nights of incomplete data the heart rate monitor appears to be working. I have also been careful to ensure that the wristband always has the same tension (I.e. it’s always on the same peg). But that doesn’t make any difference. I never had any problem with my old fitbit 4.

Aloha,

Jack

I have the same problem for the last three days. Heart sensor is on. I will be stopping using it.

As of late, I have noticed that if I initiate sleep manually the fitbit fails to fully record all sleep stage data for the day. However, if I do nothing and allow fitbit to fully determine my sleep cycle it works fine. For the past six days I have had complete sleep cycle data without incident.

@Moondoggiefarm @CynK_111 Welcome to the forums. @Hayfords Nice to see you active in the forums again. Thanks for your posts about sleep stages.

I recommend you take a look at the following article: Why don't I see sleep stages today?. Several factors ceom into play. Here you find some tips.

@Moondoggiefarm I am glad you mention it. Manually tracking sleep will prevent sleep stages from being recorded. It is best to let it log your sleep automatically. I am glad it is working now.

Yes. I know all that, but what has happened to AWAKE, REM, LIGHT and DEEP
sleep? These are what I want to see. I just get Awake, Restless or Asleep.
Is this due to a change by Fitbit? If it is a change then can we have it
changed back.
Best Answer

No you should get awake REM LIGHT and DEEP. If you dont sleep very long or you dont have the sensitivity turned up you may not get REM LIGHT and DEEP but if all set up and you sleep over 3 hours I think you should get those

Doesn't work for me. I've also restarted devices, force stop and cleared cache. New Fitbit no sleep stages

i have encountered same problem here.  Used to have sleep report with score and rem deep sleep info.  i did change any setting of my fitbit 6, just all a sudden, no more sleep score this morning.

What could i do?  sleep tracking is the most valuable info to me.

Its frustrating. Since I received by Fitbit Charge 6 I have gotten sleep stages and score twice.

Don’t manually initiate sleep. Let the Fitbit do it automatically. I think the manual process is for naps in the middle of the day, which are calculated differently.

I have had my Charge 6 for 2 months and I have gotten sleep stages 3 times. I had the same problem with Charge 5. I have tried everything recommended in these posts. I guess I give up and look for better options
