I feel cheated as my new Fitbit charge 6 does not read the number of floors climbed whereas my old charge 2 worked perfectly. Why was this facility taken away I am extremely disappointed as this was partly the reason for updating to a newer model.

I feel the same way. My charge 3 worked fine and that was a feature I really linked. I am not a smartwatch kind of person because I actually like wearing watches (quartz, mechanical, automatic). My perfect fitness tracker would be an Inspire 3, with build in gps and altimeter. Small and subtle.

Welcome to the forums @RhisiartBE.
Thanks for taking the time to share this feedback with me. I'm sorry to know your experience with it.
As you all mentioned earlier, this device does not include the option to track floors. The Charge 6 includes many of the features available with Fitbit smartwatches at a more accessible price, but the option to track floors wasn't included with this specific device. You can find all the features available with this tracker on the Charge 6 user manual and on the Fitbit Store. Thank you again for sharing all your comments and your experience with this; this is always useful to continue improving the quality of products and services.

I’m on my 4th Charge device having recently upgraded to v6 & am also disappointed that this feature is missing from the newer model.

A warm welcome to the forums @PrivateStorm.
I appreciate your comment about the Charge 6 and I understand how important and useful it would be to have this feature in this device.
As mentioned before, your comments and suggestions are always useful in order to improve the quality of our products and services.

Is this correct? I’ve just replaced a charge 3 with a charge 6 and found this feature doesn’t work.
I expected the latest version to have the same and more features not less. Very disappointed.

i am confused then - “floors” is an option in my app & appears in my “Today” list. why include if not an actual option?

It is outrageous that the floor count has been dropped. I would hope Fitbit remedy this in the next software update.

Hello @amyspickle
The Fitbit app includes a Floor tile in Activities to accommodate Fitbits that track floors. It also is for users who had Fitbits with floor tracking so they have access to their historical data.
You can hide this tile by disabling it in the Fitbit app. Tap the pencil icon on the Today page. Go to Activities and turn off Floors.
Hello @Dcase
Since floor tracking requires an altimeter, which the Charge 6 doesn't have, a firmware update would not enable this feature.

Unless they have inexplicably disabled a piece of hardware in the watch, it's not going to happen.
Although, it was never advertised to have this feature.

True, it was never ‘advertised’ as having this feature. However, when buying new electronic devices it is implied that they will have the same capabilities as the prior version plus newly added features. I read all the ‘features’ and ‘specs’ before purchasing the Charge 6 and nowhere was it stated that this feature had been removed. I feel like I’ve been a victim of bait and switch!

Buying new devices unfortunately never, ever implies that they will retain the same capabilities plus new features. There's a long list of devices where it is not a continuous addition of features with no drop off. Phones lost and regained wireless charging, lost IR ports, lost headphone jacks, lost user replaceable batteries, removable storage and so on. The sense 2 lost music controls and access to Fitbit pay. The Ticwatch pro 3 lost a compass feature despite being available at launch. The pixel line of phones lost and regained fingerprint readers. In short, it's not a continuous process of addition.
At no point did Fitbit imply that the Charge 6 had an altimeter or that it could count floors. This was a notable absence in all previews and reviews of the watch, which was accounted for in the pricing of the watch. There was no bait, nor was there any switch.
I appreciate that you assumed that this feature would remain, but the lack of an altimeter was flagged across multiple sources.

I really liked the floor count feature of my Charge 2 & 4. Why eliminate it? Does Fitbit view this board to see how many people don't like the decrease in functionality?

Guess this is what happens when Google buys Fitbit. I've just "upgraded" apparently, from a Charge 4 to a 6 because the face lost all its pixels. I'm so disappointed with this. Can safely say this will be the last Charge i buy 😢

Safe to say that millions of charge users who upgrade to the 6 will be disappointed by this. Not a good choice Google. Many of us will not be continuing after these devices expire. (They also should last longer.) Especially since you have the ability to pull floors from the phones altimeter.

I literally just received my Charge 6 and was extremely disappointed that the floors features are not included with this device. I’m thinking about returning it.
what were they thinking??

As the charge 6 does not have an altimeter and count floors may I suggest the app is configured to not count floors as well. This could be done when pairing the charge 6 to the app , as the app recognises the device and could configure itself accordingly. Perhaps on the next app update ?
