This morning the step count on my Charge 6 started calculating my steps and within 3 hours of me waking up, reached 40 million steps. Within 8 hours I was up to 136 million steps. The step widget on my Fitbit app display on my iPhone looked like a penny slot machine paying out. The number just kept going up and up. The only way I could stop it was to disconnect the app from my iPhone. I deleted the data from my Fitbit app which brought the step count down to a realistic number. When I connected my phone again, it started adding thousands of steps. My iPhone had been synced before today so unsure what triggered this or how to resolve. I suspect the sync was pulling in years of steps that were being tracked on my iPhone and merging them with my Fitbit data. Anyone else experience this?

Check if you have you phone connected as a Fitbit device. Fitbit says that's a great way to get steps counted by phone when not wearing your Fitbit, but to me it seems whenever I read of someone getting humungous quantities of steps added all at once for no reason, it turns out they have phone connected as a fitbit device, often without even realizing it.
