Charge 6 issues with iPad.

I just upgraded from Inspire 2 to Charge 6. Setup on iPad was difficult. It took three tries of restarting/rebooting Fitbit, iPad and Bluetooth. Apparently iPad device no longer supports step tracking. What's up with that? Isn’t that sort of the main event? Using iPad 7th generation with latest IOS 17.1.1 so is this an Apple or Fitbit issue?
