I’ve had my charge 6 for nearly 6 months. I decided I didn’t want to pay the huge sum to subscribe to premium as it just didn’t feel worth it so turned that off well ahead of the deadline so I didn’t forget and get charged and now it’s stopped collecting any sleep data at all. I’ve tried all the fixes suggested I think, without wanting to completely reboot and lose all my data, but I just can’t get it to synch. I’ve spent so much time on it that I am now at the point of ditching the watch altogether as I’ve also been disappointed with it more generally. I have found it really hard to use during workouts because it’s too cluttered with too many functions I don’t need and can’t get rid of, such as notifications, google maps. I can’t scroll through them all each time I want to time a run as part of a wider workout. And I know it’s not a reliable tracker as I’m often congratulated for meeting my step count when I’ve been sitting down, just moving my arm typing or similar. And the synching issue has always been a pain as it doesn’t do it automatically and takes such a lot of time. This gadget seems too much trouble for the benefit, particularly now I’ve reached the point where the premium has to be paid for. I feel I’m being mined for my data and being asked to pay for the pleasure, while not really getting the functionality I wanted.

Hi, @ekpea , welcome to the Community Forums, and I am sorry to read that you are having such difficulties with your Fitbit! Firstly please be reassured that giving your Fitbit a reboot will absolutely NOT cause you to lose all your data!! In fact restarting your Fitbit is an excellent first troubleshooting step for all kinds of issues, but especially if you are having trouble synching. You can find the instructions for giving your Fitbit a restart here .
I recommend giving your Fitbit a restart whenever it is not behaving as expected. It is your first go to trouble shooting step and definitely will not cause loss of data!
Generally speaking you should not ever need to clear the data from your Fitbit unless you want to give it to another person or otherwise recycle it, but even if you did clear the user data that would ONLY delete any non synced data - once synced to the Fitbit servers, and visible on your app, that data is independent of the Fitbit itself and would only be deleted if you deleted your entire Fitbit account.
All wrist worn trackers will count false “hand steps” to some extent. You can minimise this by wearing your Fitbit on your non dominant hand. If you feel that you continue to get too many false steps you can also change the setting in your app (under the device settings) to say you are wearing it on your dominant hand (even though you are not…). Choosing the dominant hand setting will make the Fitbit somewhat less sensitive to hand movements.
If you are having other issues, please do feel free to post your specific questions here. There is always someone here to help.
