Charge 6 not syncing with the app

Everyday I have issues with the charge 6 and the app. It stopped syncing sometime yesterday (fitbit watch showed over 9000 steps the last sync showed 7000)

Today no steps, cant sync. Tried syncing on the PC, nope, on  the app , nope. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app..nope.  The watch shows my steps, but the app, and PC do not

And this not syncing is a DAILY thing, I am just over this charge 6.

I should have bought an apple watch argh

frustrating

After a little more than a year since the Charge 5 Debacle, I tried all of these steps and nothing has worked for my Charge 6. Fitbit has ensured my birthday gift will be another device from a completely different company.

On Tuesday afternoon, my Charge 6 stopped syncing to my iPhone 15.  I followed the steps to "fix" this problem but nothing worked.  I hate to say it that ever since Google took over FitBit, I have had nothing but problems.  In the month before Google shut down the Fitbit.Com online dashboard I bought the Charge 6.  If I had known, then I might have purchased an Apple Watch instead.  In January 2025, I had to pare with phone to my Fitbit because my Charge 6 lost all connection to my iPhone.  I lost 9 years worth of data including many badges.  I'm probably going to lose 9 months worth of data when I delete the FitBit app from my iPhone and reinstall it.

It shouldn’t, when you enter your details it should recognise you and your info should be there. I hope it works for you.
I personally dislike this wretched Google. I had no problems prior to the eating up Fitbit by them.  Just because they are big doesn’t make them Good.  Good luck, hope it works for you.

Ridiculous! The app should just work and it doesn't. So disappointing.

Have had luck getting my Charge6 ro sync by restarting my cellphone, but I'm having to do it every three or four days. Not good, but at least it is a work-around until they fix this bug.

Can you explain how to correct this issue. All of a sudden my charge 6 stopped working. I monitor my sleep and it is ALWAYS always a chore dragging out the info so I give up and it usually pops at some other time.  So I left it day before yesterday but it’s not “popping up” and i got a message somewhere that it wasn’t synching.  I asked for password help email and the emails never came in.
my steps on the device are more than what is being brought into MyFitnessPal app.  Please advise

Hi, I would delete the app and download another on your phone or pad. Then reset the device (charge 6). Hopefully it will work. Good advice can be found on YouTube.
Best wishes. Chris

Just to let everyone know, I got confirmation that the team is aware of the syncing issues with the Charge 6 and is working on fixing the problem. I will report back when I have any additional updates.

Disconnect from Bluetooth. Reconnect

and restart Fibit

How to force a restart
  • Connect your Charge 6 to its charging cable.
  • Press the button on the flat end of the charger cable three times within an 8-second period, holding for about one second each time.
  • The Fitbit logo will appear on the screen after a few seconds, indicating a successful restart

Shame on you! We all know how to follow the basic instructions available online. Your response is insulting. My Charhe 6 is less than a year old but the free 6 months of expanded benefits is expiring so they charged my cc. This device has stopped syncing several times and now it can't find my phone again. I will NEVER purchase another fitnit device.

Good morning,

I hear your frustration but the steps that I yes cut and pasted online works for me and had to do it a few times with success.  I am happy that it doesn’t lose my data and my Fitbit works.  It is quirky but mine seems stable now.  I have looked at options of another brand like Garmin, but the size and price has kept me within the Fitbit community.  What I don’t like is the lifespan, just two years. So when I travel further a field I actually bring a good old Timex watch with me as I was stuck without a watch on a trip where I used my cell phone for tracking walks and hikes.

Have another cup of coffee and do go out into nature for some vitamin N, which I’m soon going to strap on my hiking boots and go.

I hope you will find a solution and if you switch brands I hope it goes well and perhaps let us know what kind.

Have a nice day.

Thank you!! I am so happy to hear your found a way to get yours to work but
I also agree that going back to a traditional watch offers better esthetic
style as well as tremendously more reliability!! I loved your post
response! Obviously, mine was written out of frustration this morning.
Please forgive my temper tantrum😔

I was able to get my Charge 6 back to syncing and find my history was still there.  Last week, my iPhone and Fitbit stopped syncing again.  I was getting an error on my phone app.  I thought "Here I go again!".  I googled my issue and was able to see a comment that there is a reset button on the FitBit 6 charging cable.  I followed that step and was able to Fitbit and my iPhone to sync again.

Hi, mine has lost its heart tracking now. Not on the App anymore.  Downloaded another App after deleting the one I was using. But not on that either. If they take anything else off it will just be a Step Counter if you’re lucky.  What a load of rubbish this has turned into. Google ?  Not what I call it !!!
Best regards. Chris.

Hello @ChrisHut

Do you see a green light on the back of your Charge 6? That's the optical heart rate sensor.

If you don't see the green light, the first place to check is the Settings tile on your Charge 6 and confirm that Heart rate is turned on.

  • Swipe down from the clock face until you see the Settings tile (last one) and tap it
  • Swipe up to get to Heart rate and confirm it's turned on. If not, tap on it to enable.

I used to really enjoy having a Fitbit.  The Charge 6 offered good functionality at a sensible size.  In the past few weeks, however, I have found myself seriously considering binning it and getting a different (Non-Google!!!) device.

My device stopped working and recording data properly, so I replaced it under warranty.  The new device would not pair to my phone - when ever I put in the four-digit code at the prompt, I got an error message and the device froze.  I spend a very long time with Fitbit support, rebooting, reinstalling, and resetting, while being passed up successive support levels.  I now think that there was no real understanding or solution, they were just following scripts in the hope that either a miracle would happen, or I would go away.  Support eventual offered to replace the device, but it would take up to two weeks, and I would have to arrange a return shipment to Poland from the UK!

At that point I gave up, and contacted Amazon, who, in one call, offered me a new device!  When I tried to pair the new device with my phone, however, exactly the same problem occurred - so, it seems it wasn't a device issue but a failure in the app.

Looking through posts on this forum, and on AppStore reviews, it seems that, under Google, Fitbit have given up on their product, and have lost control of the quality and reliability of their software.

My question is, therefore, is this a deliberate policy by Google to degrade Fitbit to the point that it becomes unusable (and they hope everyone will swap to Google Pixel watches) or is it just incompetence by Fitbit/Google developers, in which case there is some hope that they might improve?

Either way, I think my time with a Fitbit is, regrettably, drawing to a close.

Help from Google is very poor.  People right across the age spectrum have these devices and if you’re lucky enough to get a reply then frequently I look and have to read it over and over but end up going to YouTube for answers. It shouldn’t be like this. Personally I’m really fed up with it all. It’s one problem after another. When it was Fitbit prior to Google personally, I never had one problem with my Charge 2 but this Charge 6 under Google I’d driving me mad.  One after the other problems to try and solve.  Very tedious. I’m too old for all this c..p.

Best wishes all. Chris

I hope Google listens to all our woes.  I agree, Fitbit was great prior to Google. I’m assuming Google wanted to get into fitness trackers and bought Fitbit.  I just want a fitness tracker with a watch and not all the bells and whistles, which isn’t too expensive. I too fear Google is pushing us to a Google Pixel.
