Charge 6 not tracking activities automatically

I notice recently that for reasons unknown my Charge 6 started detecting treadmill runs way late, well into the session. An hour-long run on a treadmill is registered as, say, 25 minute-long because Charge only manages to recognize the exercise on its 35th minute.

What exactly does it watch to detect treadmill runs? I do a warm-up before the treadmill, so by the time I begin running my heart rate is already way up, well above 100 bpm. And Charge does see it: it properly shows my elevated HR on the screen the whole time. Nevertheless, when I check its records later, only the tail portion of my run is recorded by the device.

So, what else is it missing here? Should I swing my arms more vigorously as I run? Should I bounce up and down more?

BTW, this issue has started relatively recently. Before, it was detecting treadmill runs more precisely and reliably. And the older versions of the device seems to better in that regard as well.

@AndreyT Hey there, welcome back to the community!

Thanks for troubleshooting your Charge 6 with the steps provided in your post.

Let's star by trying a restart using the steps described here. Also, let's try adjusting the minimum time required for your device to automatically track activity. You can do that here: How do I track my activity with my Fitbit device?
