Charge 6 steps while sleeping

I got the charge 6 for two reasons, sleep tracking, and my steps. My first night wearing it last night it counted I walked 840 steps which is really disappointing. I wear it on my non dominant hand, I put DND mode on and sleep mode. I think not being able to delete or manually enter in overall steps is a huge oversight if the watch is going to miscalculate like this during sleep. Disappointing.

Hi @Echo.J. Welcome to the community forums.

Thank you for taking the time to explain the issue you’re experiencing with Charge 6.

Could you please confirm if you’re using MobileTrack? This feature allows your phone to track steps even when you aren't wearing your Fitbit. If it’s active, the app combines the steps from both your phone and your device. If you'd like to disable this, just tap the Devices icon in the top-left corner of the Fitbit app, select your phone, and choose 'Disconnect device.

Regarding the extra steps, please keep in mind that our algorithm is designed to recognize motion patterns like walking or running. However, certain activities involving arm movement—like cooking or working at a desk—might occasionally be counted as steps. For most users, these extra movements don't significantly impact overall daily stats, as the device is simply trying to give you credit for any small movements in between stationary periods.

Lastly, please note that restarting your device will not delete your data, but it can often resolve these types of inconsistencies. If you feel the step count is still inaccurate, I recommend trying the restart process to see if the behavior continues.

If you'd like to add steps manually, please take a look at this community thread. It walks you through how to log an activity so the steps show up in your app.
