Don't want to migrate to Google

ANSWERED

My Charge 4 just died and and I have replaced it with a Charge 6.  I don't want to use a Google account - I would like to keep my old account.  I've read that this is possible until at least 2025 but I'm having problems.

When I try to connect my new device, I tap "Charge 6" - then it says "haven't moved your account - you should first move your account to Google" - and it gives me 2 choices:  Proceed or Maybe Later.  When I tap Maybe Later, it bounces me back to "What are you setting up?"

I updated my Fitbit app.

Any ideas???  Thanks in advance!

Hello @teartags88 and welcome to the Community.  Part of the complete Google migration description included a part that said any device released after the Google Account launch date would require a Google account.  The Charge 6 is the first Fitbit that met that criterion and it requires a Google account.

You need to migrate to set up a Charge 6.

Hi LZeeW,

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it.  From the Fitbit support pages:

Account Requirements: A Google Account is required for all new users.

A Google Account is required to activate new Fitbit devices released after the launch of Google Accounts for Fitbit.

Existing users have the option to use either a Google Account or their existing Fitbit account until at least 2025 at which point they will be required to use a Google Account for login. Click here for more information.

I am an existing customer.  Am I reading this wrong - it looks like there is a way to do it without a Google account?

@teartags88   The statement that applies is the one that you didn’t type in bold.  The Charge 6 was released after Google accounts were launched.  Google announced that Google accounts were coming in April 2023 and they were launched that summer.  The Charge 6 was released in September.
