The new fitbit charge 6 doesn’t pair with Iphone. It shows the pairing number, but when you insert it in the app, it keeps hanging and then says something went wrong. Connection to device timed out. Tried restarting phone, app, fitbit, same result.
I have tried every option suggest by Fitbit, reset charge 6 with the button on the charger, force stop app on phone and reboot phone, turn on and off Bluetooth, I have uninstalled and re-installed the app. I can not get the charge 6 to pair with my phone. Unfortunately I feel I have invested WAY TO much time trying to get this watch connected to my phone. I am so disappointed in Fitbit for not making an effort to right this, after research this seems to be a big problem. 😕 I am going to return to target and look for a different brand device.
Hi all: A friend of mine found what we think is the solution to the pairing problem, totally by accident. We tried it on my Charge 6 (that wouldn't pair) and it fixed the problem The solution? The instructions on how to reset the Charge 6 are incorrect - instead of pressing the button 3 times, do it 4. It was that simple. All of a sudden, everything went the way it was supposed to. My Charge 6 is now set up, works properly, and I didn't have to sit around stressed anymore.
So my Fitbit charge 6 was doing the install, but it was stuck for 2 hours on 1/2. So I rebooted, after this, the screen became black. I tried everything, it will “reboot” aka shows the logo. But after this, total darkness, if I press the button it will vibrate. That’s it. I tried every step multiple times, reinstalling the app, removing all the devices, the 3x / 4x / 5x button, nothing. I’m a loyal Fitbit charge user since 2017. I’ve had every new Fitbit since the charge 2, never had issues. 5-6 weeks ago my charge 5 was acting up (was getting my steps, calories etc, but no workouts were detected on its own, never had a problem with this). That’s why I got the charge 6… well I’m almost at a point of switching to something else
Best AnswerMy Charge 6 arrived today. Being a bit under time pressure, I initiated the pairing (Pixel phone, i.e. pure Android) before it was fully charged ( battery at about 2/3), and the app got stuck at the pairing stage. After about 10 min, I checked in the phone settings and it showed the device as paired, and thus I took the risk to close the stuck pairing window (at worst, I still could do a factory reset), acknowledged the warning that the device may malfunction and, voilà, the firmware update started and everything went quite smoothly up to the green checkmark. However, afterwards I got a sync error in the app, which resolved after a phone restart. Since that, so far so good ( fingers crossed), though I did lose some steps recorded on the previous device (Charge 4, riding in the coin pocket of my jeans due to broken strap holder). Let ' s hope it holds - but for anyone experiencing this problem, it may be worth checking in phone settings ( not app) if the pairing was completed.
Best Answer"I tried for a month. Finally I created a google account and transferred. Despite the app saying “should transfer” and “you can transfer later” it turns out you actually “have to” transfer to connect a 6.
My dr says I SHOULD get 8 hours sleep, but I don’t have to
My Dr says I SHOULD drink 8 cups of water a day, but I don’t hav3 to
My dr says I SHOULD get 30 minutes of moderate exercise 3x a week, but I don’t have to
Fitbit says you SHOULD transfer you soul to Google, AND you actually HAVE TO or MUST
Fitbit needs to get an app and instruction writer that understands the English language. "
Best Answer@Fschw please see page 8 of your user manual
To get started:
1. Download the Fitbit app:
l Apple App Store for iPhones
l Google Play Store for Android phones
2. Install the app, and open it.
3. Tap Sign in with Google, and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your
device.
When you're done with setup, read through the guide to learn more about your new
tracker and then explore the Fitbit app.
For more information, see the related help article.
Best AnswerSame story here. Even sent first 6 back to Amazon and replacement will not accept pairing code.
I have done everything suggested and no luck
They know this is happening and why ignore the obvious? Sending this second one back for good. Thoughts ?
Best Answer@FBH what steps are you taking to pair the Charge 6?
Are you doing all the steps through the fitbit app on the phone? There is nothing you can do through the phones Bluetooth screen.
Are you logged in through you Google Account?
Android or iOS and what version
Any error messages? What are they?

Best AnswerI just got the new Charge 6 and having the same issues. I’ve rebooted numerous times unpaired, repaired with phone still gets hung up when downloading. Buying this was probably a mistake.
Best AnswerThank you, mailau! I’ve read everything in this thread, and the only thing that worked for me was pairing the Fitbit Charge 6 with my OnePlus 12 first, updating it, unpairing, and then connecting it to my husband’s OnePlus 10 Pro. It finally worked but only after endless attempts and frustration. No reboot recipes worked
Overall, starting Fitbit Charge 6 has been the worst onboarding experience ever. Everything from 2023 in this thread is still true in 2025! Connecting this band is a nightmare. For a Google product, this level of dysfunction is shocking and unacceptable
