Hello @Wurmina and welcome to the Community.  Yes, it's true.  The Charge 6 doesn't have an altimeter, the hardware to count floors.

Thank you for your answer that the charge 6 can not count floors,
but.....why is there an option to count floors in my fitbit charge 6 app on
my telephone with an on and off switch to choose. That is the reason I went
looking for the count option. Thank you.

@Wurmina  Thank you for explaining that you are getting an option to do this.  I'm going to report this to Fitbit. I looked at your public profile and see that you are a long time user.  Older app versions wouldn't let you see a metric that isn't available on your device.  This is the second post of this type that I've seen.

I have the newest app for the fitbit charge 6.

@LZeeW I can confirm floors metric appears in the new app for the Charge 6. Seems like a bug (one of many).

@Triletics   Thank you for confirming.  In the other instance, a Charge 2 user has an option to toggle on a Stress Management score, but the Charge 2 doesn't support this feature.

Hi there @Triletics, and a warm welcome to @Wurmina@LZeeW Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for your thoughts and as our friend mentioned, with previous versions of the Fitbit app you were able to see just the stats supported by your Fitbit device; and in case that information is no longer supported, that tile will be hidden. However, this changed with the new app as it allows you to see older information even if your current device doesn't support it. In other words, if I have a Charge 6 connected in my account, I'm still able to see the floors I recorded with a different device such as the Charge 3 or Versa.

I'm sorry if this causes any confusion and I appreciate your feedback. Please note that you can always turn off any tile that you prefer to have hidden from the Today tab.

Thank you, its a logic situation. The floors in the past are still there.
You can see them. I understand.

I read on Cnet that the Charge 6 uses the gps to measure floors (elevation) at the end of your exercise, is anyone getting a floor count from the 6?

Best Answer

I’m not seeing flights of stairs. I live in a 3-story house with 13 steps between each floor. I read other responses and it seems the Charge 6 does not have an altimeter to capture stairs.

Still no altimeter?  I want to upgrade as my Charge 5 is broken, but I'm waiting until one comes out with an altimeter. I was already so disappointed that the Charge 5 didn't have it.

Hello @Shooze79 & @Dezbeii

Confirming that the Charge 6 doesn't have an altimeter, so it won't track floors.

Current models that do floor tracking are: Versa 2 & 4, Sense 2, and Pixel Watches.

My new charge 6 does not count floors.  It also undercounts calories burned. I feel burned buying an inferior product

Hi everyone, and a warm welcome to our new members. @RiekoC Thanks for your help!

While the floors tile will be available for you to check previous information, I'd like to confirm with you that Charge 6 doesn't have the ability to track floors since the altimeter wasn't included in the hardware.

I'm sorry if this causes an inconvenience and I appreciate your feedback regarding our Fitbit devices. We'll continue working on all our products to improve them, and the input we receive from our members is a big part of the process.

To confirm what metrics your Charge 6 can track, please see this help article.

I'm very confused about this. I had a Sense (the original one) for a couple of years and late 2023 switched to the smaller Charge 6 which fits my small wrist better. I have the floors tile on my Charge 6 (purchased in late 2023) which I now understand is because it was available on the Sense. But, not only that, looking at it now, it tells me that I have done 35 floors today after my usual walk in a slightly hilly area. Early this morning it said 0 floors. Later (before the walk) it said 1 floor. So, something is counting floors. Very confusing. Would really like to know what is happening.

Hi there, @amheyman.

Thanks for joining this thread and bringing this to my attention. As mentioned before, the floors tile should appear on the Today screen regardless of the Fitbit device paired to your account, as it allows you to access previous data.

That being said, it's odd that you're seeing a floors count on your account. To look into this, could you take a screenshot of what it's displayed on the Fitbit app? You can attach it to your reply with the instructions described here. Additionally, make sure to update the Fitbit app to ensure the rest of your data is updated correctly.

Hi, and thanks for responding . I dug into this issue a bit and realized that what I was seeing was the "Zone Minutes" icon/tile, not Floors". The icon with the 3 stacked arrows confused me. It looks like stairs. So now I know. I am really disappointed that the Charge 6 has no altimeter since walking/running/biking hills (or climbing stairs) is such a different stressor than the activity on flat ground. I realize that the Charge 6 is small (thats why I bought it...my wrist is small and the sense was too clunky on me), but removing the altimeter limits the functionality of the tracker. Thanks again for your response! Alicia

Yes there are many. Can't use the tracker to see the routes I walk or hike.
